996 Turbo Transmission
said it before, say it again. some guys are paying "retail" on EVERYthing regardless of motorsport/gt2rs whatever,.. or stock oem. while some guys are getting stuff near or at cost. this goes for labor and parts. hence the differential.
and therein lies the difference(s).

yes i do.I went with mostly guard parts.Guard billet mainshaft guard straight cut gears/steel synchros 1-5 ,Ruf 6th gear (Car is geared to 263mph@7800 rpm), billet diff cover, and of course all new bearings.I had Brian Copans assemble it.

You guys are in dreamland if you think you are building a trans for a 996 from a reputable builder that will hold up to 700+lb ft torque and 1000hp in a street car that sees occasional racing for 4500.Parts in my trans were 10k + and if IRC 3k of it was a billet main and first gear. Also for high hp builds straight cut gears are recommended along with steel syncros. The Porsche 997 gt2 gear sets are only marginally stronger than stock
don't get me wrong you can rebuild your trans to close to stock strength/ durability for cheap but to build one thats much better than stock with specific ratios by a reputable expert it will cost you more
