If the fluid level is low you probably want to look for a leak. Check the entire steering/clutch system for fluid leaks, but if you do not find any leak sign pay particular attention to the steering rack. The rack seals can leak, but the dust boots can catch fluid leaking past the seals so be aware that even if there are no signs of fluid leaking at the boots grope the dust boots for signs of them holding fluid. If there is any fluid the dust boot will feel like a cheap breast implant.

Be careful. If the boot is full of power steering fluid if you squeeze it too hard -- hey who said cheap breast implants can't be fun? -- it can rupture and spray fluid all over maybe in your eyes.

I just LOL'd when I read grope the boots. I will look it over, but I have not seen anything wet under the car...other than the oil leak :-/ there is a little bit on the stick, but the car has 100000 miles. Prob just that fancy evaporating fluid. ;-)
