Tiptronic

Hi all
I have a problem that I would like to share, maybe someone can help
Have 2001 TT tiptronic , on Rpm 5000 and up , shifting manually is totally fine . Automatic ( it lags from 3rd to 4th and changes to 5th quickly ) . Tried lot of things and no go. My mechanic swears it's the volvebody !
Any suggestions specially it shift normal on manual mod

Regards

Could be a shaft pressure seal. The seals along the shaft keep the fluid going to the right clutch pack. If the pump is not pumping as it should and if one of those seals are not sealing right or is basically worn the right amount of pressure will not go to the clutch pack. That looks to be what happened to mine. The smallest seal twards the tip of the shaft went partially bad. It doesn't take much deviation from how it is supposed to be and things no work right.

Mercedes had that problem with some of the produced transmissions in 2000. They altered the seals within that year. This was for the 722.6 transmission which has pretty much the same internals as the tiptronic on 996. (Not the same external house).

ATF change is the key to a long life on these trannies. MB operates with changes at 38.000 miles or sooner if driven hard.

one way bearing when in auto mode can be the issue... which explains one in manual mode it does not act up
