Anyone has experience this, basically the entire wiring is cracked and falling off with a simple touch!! I'll be refreshing both wiring looms. Stay tuned

 

Wow! Saw the exact same thing on a GTi 2007 at the rear access door….Hum Bad quality of wires like the Airbus A320 about 10 years ago ;-) I will keep my eyes open when doing maintenance on the TT. Thanks for the heads up!!!

Mine seem to be perfectly fine.

 

Did one headlight today, is an easy task if you like soldering. I used 18 and 16 guage wires in four different colors and heat shrink tubes. I reused the terminals though!!

 

I don't think this issue is truly relevant to all 996's.


Where did you purchase your car from, history and power source?


This situation would be lawsuit for sure!

 

I'd be using good insulated wire that's for sure! Were these aftermarket headlights?

Wire surrounding crack for a reason though.!

 

I would guess that 13+ years on Caribbean conditions helped to the deterioration of the wiring. I also noticed that some members in the Cayenne Forum present the issue as well, also seem to be normal in BMW forums. Good thing is that i finished the second wiring loom refresh last night..., now that the Headlights are open, i will proceed to paint the interior trim of the headlights!!

 

Had the same thing happen on my -00 GT3. I thought it was because I had installed aftermarket HID's!?

 

Well i did the wiring harness refresh and since i cracked the headlights open, i did painted the chrome housing.. what you guys think??
