I've finally decided to sell my car but I can't figure what it's worth. Besides the tons of upgrades I've also recently put on new brakes, tires, clutch, spark plugs and coils. The car has about 39,000 miles. Where are the best places to sell it? eBay? Auctions? What should I ask for it?
Year? Options? Looks like a really nice car. Depending on year, modifications and factory spec I would guess right around $50k, maybe more for the right buyer.
First let me say your car looks hot....
I agree I would target around 50 depending on what you have, if its too moded, you might limit your pool. What year, is it x50 or not.
i've had success with ebay, and autotrader in the past, stay away from craigslist unless you want tons of spam calls and weirdos coming to test drive...
Depends on what kind of mods you have and I can see that your rocking the Techart gt-street kit .. That add a lot of value, you got low mileage that's a +.. Pccb brakes if I'm not mistaken another +.
If owned the car and was going to sell I wouldn't take anything less than $55k +
Only if the car has a clear title and no stories.
Regardless the color of the car is harder to come by and its a desired color in the 996 world.
i think the pricing your getting is about right maybe a tad low. i would take out the roll bar and harness and reinstall the rear seats. takes the vision of "its been raced often and hard" out of the picture and for those getting into the car now may have small kids that want to ride.
to get an even larger audience ill swap you even for the front bumper and hood!
Your car is amazing. I would not part it out. Try to sell it as is. $50k is a good price, if you go too high you will sit in it for a while, especially this time of the year.
DM,
Highest asking price I've logged for an '02, or with 45k miles, is $45k. You have a very nicely done track car. That said, you probably won't recoup the 10s of thousands spent on upgrades. A stock car would likely sell for around $50k with X50. Do you have all the original parts? I'd like to think you could get $60k, but the market may not bear it.
i think your car as immaculately cared for and well sorted in terms of mods will be a classic example of you're not being able to get out what you've put in, even fractionally. i think that these cars prices on the open market are dictated more by their mileage and year than what we may or may not have "in:" them.
most guys that sell cars at that level of mods, part them out and revert as close to stock as possible. you'll get more dough back, and have a larger pool of potential buyers with fewer mods.
the average buyer doesn't understand the benefits ( = value ) of what all you've done, though we do. gl w sale.
Want a quick sale, sell it as is and cheap for less than a totally stock example. To maximize your selling price, make it as close to 100% original, including seats, wheels, suspension and remove the tint.
Cash buyers willing to ante up big bux don't want some else's idea of a dream hot rod.
Your car look great, well done and tastefully so, very cool, etc. But it probably is not exactly what the guy looking for a 996TT with cash in his pocket is looking for. GLWS
Thanks for all the tips. I actually thought you guys were joking about selling it for parts. Now I can't tell. Problem is I would need to pay someone to uninstall the old parts, buy replacement parts and then pay to have them reinstalled. Can't see that working. So all you part vultures are SOL.
Not really in a rush to sell so I guess I will offer it at $59g and see what happens.
