Maf sensor

Was getting bad readings from my maf sensor last year cleaned it and seem to do the job I'm a little worried still so I figured it would just be best to replace the sensor is there a brand or type that is better than the other?

maf cleaning if and when it works is temporary. the bosch 986/996 part is interchangeable. but you need the one ending in 124.00 if memory serves

996 606 124 00

if cleaning helped how it runs, replace the MAF and it'll run even better...cleaning is a tell-tale/band-aide...
For a stock(ish) car, go with OEM/Bosch...^Mark has the correct number 996 606 124 00

thats not right! are you using the generics? i "used" to, and would fry them any/everytime i pegged the limiter.

once i went back to oem, i have not had one maf issue.

I run new Bosch's, same as Porsche in a different box...even has the Porsche part number still on it, lol.
This one has been good for ~2years of HARD driving...although am considering going to EPL's VAG sensor depending on price and if Tony(EPL) sees a real benefit for me...(Edit, GT2/K24 @ ~1.2bar)
There's a couple other aftermarket brands, but why buy lesser/unknown parts...

only ask because as i understand the choices? that we have are but three:

oem bosch
hitachi ( with all that y pipe modding etc )
and proto's ( and whoever else makes one ) mafLESS tune lol.

dont know of epl's other solution, but i'm sure thats for more power than i'm making. thx for the info

i would never buy anything other than oem if oem has what i need

NO!! porsche lies! they are ALL bosch parts! porsche does not make the MAF, bosch does, and it's the same exact one ( though with a differing part number ) as the 986/BOXTER maf!

i paid 150 for a new bosch in a yellow box with shiny waxy brown paper. you can re-use the paper for an old school tuna fish sandwich. pay NO more than 175. search my friend.

Bosch/Porsche...a couple other brands Spectra, Airtex, etc.
VAG...Hitachi
MAFless, which I don't believe in for true street cars

EPL has a couple options, 2 VAG based sensors, and a Ford based sensor...various levels of improvement/HP allowance...I'm considering the basic VAG setup depending on what Tony says...or just another fresh Bosch MAF(mines still 'ok' at this point, but simple PM)
