So, I need a different tire size to run, and rubber in the 315/25-19 variety is getting pretty damn scarce. I have a set of T1Rs right now but have a broken belt in one and need to buy at lest a pair of rear tires. All i can find now is the Mich Pilot Sport PS2 and the Nitto Invo.

I want to go with a different tire size to give me some more choice. I did some research on the 305/30-19s and here is the size differences between the two...



My biggest concern is rub I guess... as this tire is taller by .5" per sidewall, or a full 1.0" in diameter. Is there a tire people are using in place of the 315 that I'm not thinking of?

 

Just went thru this change. Go to PSS 305/30/19 and call it done.

 

I've been running this combo on stock suspension for a year now.
Front: 245/35/19 on 19x8.5 rim 45 offset
Rears: 305/30/19 on 19x11 rim with 52 offset.

I plan to get 10 mm spacers for the rears

 

I'm lowered on springs and had to ditch the 315s to 305s. I was rubbing all over. Better choices. Lower prices. Zero rubbing now. I use 14mm spaces

 

If your 996TT is still AWD and you are running 235/35R19 front tires the most correct rear tire size is 295/30R19. The 305/30R19 is definitely too tall in terms of keeping the AWD system happy.

 

I'm running a Michelin pss in 305/3/19 and car is lowered on H&R's. I get rubbing only when I hit a pretty big dip or bump on the freeway.

 

Ah I should have clarified. I am RWD converted.

Did some measuring, I believe the 305/30 will work ok for me. Just concerned it's gonna look huge sidewall-wise. I do think I need to go with a wider front tire, as my 235's seem to look too narrow for my wheels...

 

245/35 and 305/30 PSS are what you want. Sidewalls are perfect in 8.5 and 12 rims.

 

To clarify, PSS are Michelin Super Sport Pilots ?

Correct.

11s will work too.Were you running 315/25/19s before. If so, 305s will fit. The PSS are a little less square on the sides compared to the 315 PS2s, which helps with clearance even with the taller sidewall

 

My 235's i run now look way to narrow for my wheel. They aren't stretched but I need wider. is 245 enough or should i look into a 255?

 

I would stick with the 245s. They are on the wide side for an 8.5" rim (what I run) and fit perfect on a 9" rim.

255s will rub without pulling front fenders and modifying fender liners ect.

Carwash - would might taking a pic of the 245's on your wheel? Trying to get an idea of how much it sticks out over the rim.
