Which one would you choose?
I guess its not a money issue for me as I would rather have lower miles and do the repairs as they come up. I do not agree with the buy with miles so things break and get replaced mentality as I have owned cars that I drove to the 200k area and the repairs always started around 70-90k at least for me. I'm going to be shopping for something more exotic and believe me it will probably be mid miles= but I will never try to compare it to something well kept low mileage.

I can honestly say my wife has no interest in hearing me talk about cars much less help me type and besides it would be much better put if she did. I also can say in our relationship I'm the one with finances while not rich I'm comfortable. I'm really surprised I expected better from you. Back on subject I have never had parts wear out prematurely on low mileage cars and my Audis are upward to 90k and just now needing minor parts replaced.
why would you expect better from me!?! geez, I've been nothing if not consistent in my sardonic bordering on vitriolic happy normal self!
none of this is to be taken "personally" geez, we know who wears the skin in the family. as yours may have been flayed lol
i KID YOU!

An issue is that cars that simply sit do still have parts that age, and some of them age badly having seen little lubrication or movement. At 10k it might have only ever seen a single oil change, probably has original brake fluid and coolant too. Bad? Maybe since the brakes never see any heat and brake fluid is generally hygroscopic. Perhaps I'm simply suspicious or a car used so little but I would certainly prefer one with a little more usage. Certainly it goes against what some might see as common sense but when a tire or belt or other piece dry rots from sitting it's no fun. You're liable to own it a week and have the foam seals blow out of the AC system and oh what a fun job fixing that is...
Its called maintenance. I doubt you will find many 996tts that have low mileage with original fluids etc but could happen. Only an idiot would not change the oil in 10k miles. Tires do get old but are cheap to replace. The A/C foam can age on any car. I'm shopping for something more exotic hope the dislike of low mileage is contagious.

but that's the pay to play of it all and back to price? and the newer entrants to ownership? again, i still say it's the new miata lol
btw. you find me a -10k car and i'll show you original tires lol. they're always oem on garage queens
oil? who knows,.. but all else will be untouched. bet ya
Its just a difference in outlooks personality and also opinions. If the things said here held water you wouldn't see low mile cars bringing any premium no matter how small and car lots would be filled with high mileage cars. Very few lots will keep a car over 100k as they go to wholesalers. I would not drive any car on the street with road rash for long I would re spray bumpers hood - did so on my Audi A4 recently 2400 for hood- rear bumper in pearl paint ouch probably 50% of what car is worth lol. My car does not have original tires the accessary belt has been changed along with all filters/fluids. I plan on new coolant and brake flush again soon before I put it on market, or not lol. I check hoses regularly and will replace if they show sign of dry rot etc=they look and feel new. I keep logs for all my equipment with dates/times per manufactures guidelines. My experience has been different in that my low mile cars have been way less cost/headaches then higher cars. I would buy a high mile car in a NY minute if my gut tells me its ok or the deal is good as I know 95% of the time I can repair most things myself for lower cost. My philosophy is buy the lowest mile best example of a car that your budget will allow. I'm happy that you and other members here enjoy doing the mods and spending big bucks on parts/radios etc some would call that bad financial sense= I do not as I have done it myself but will admit it was a lot of wasted money at times. I have my own opinions based on my life experiences and so far its paid off in many ways so I will stick with it.

oh, i'll never see a dime back on the added "parts"and i know that. we are similarly aged, even if our tt's are not. i just don't really care about "resale" much. meaning i care a little lol but not much more. if i did, i'd never have gotten rid of the 1st one i had.
it's just tough for me NOT to drive the car as it was intended and built to be driven while worrying about "mileage/road rash/interior/stock parts etc etc".
hell, i've even allowed my current GF to put her yap dog in the car! but then i've made a lot of concessions to keep HER happy heh..
pls just dont get a hi mileage f car! if there is ONE HIGH mileage car that one can safely AND wisely buy with confidence, it is a porsche 911 ( turbo ).
they are meant to be driven hard and put away wet. hmm,, kinda like my GF again.. sorry ... lol

I have never done anything with a car that I wanted with the intentions of getting any money back. Cars that I buy to resell yes. I have to go take down the deer fencing from around my trees= yes I'm **** about them also lol. Will continue later have a nice day!
I would lean towards #1 if it was the color combo I wanted and dependent on what I want to do with it. I wouldn't be scared off by #2 either if you want an extremely low mileage and that color combo. I bought last year with an 01 with 10k and yes a few things needed to be done but I am extremely happy with the color combo and I am a stickler for mileage.
