996 X50 vs. Gallardo..Which is quicker??
I ran a Gallardo here in Atlanta a few months back. My only power mod is my exhaust. He had 2 people in the car, I just had myself and my heavy, 19" HREs. I have a confirmed trap of over 116mph on an 88' day after 4 runs. I am sure that I could have done better had I had stock wheels and/or had I let the car cool down some more (heat soak is a *****).
I slowly walked away from the Gallardo on two tries from about 60mph rolls. Take that for what it's worth. Both cars were rather close in my opinion. I truly believe that an X-50 should slightly pull away, stock for stock with both drivers being equal.

The performance of the Gallardo is well documented when the clutch is good. It is slower than an X50:

Here is video of a gallardo run from 0-186mph:
http://rapidshare.de/files/6897347/Video007.3gp.html
According to this guy his times were:
0-60mph 3.87
0-100mph 7,95
0-125mph 11,70
0-150mph 17,10
0-180mph 28,40
0-186mph 31.50
The Gallardo's tested by Motor Trend and Car and Driver were six speeds.
The times I gave you above were for the the six speed manual transmissions and the curb weight for these cars was 3560 -3565 lbs.

BTW, here's the Gallardo's performance from R&T magazine:
BTW, the 60-130 MPH time on the Gallardo is about 11 seconds. This is about the same as the other "ordinary" cars (e.g., Viper, CS, 993 TT, 996 TT, etc). The Ruf and Protomotive Turbo cars, Enzo and CGT do this in under 8 seconds.

After couple runs with my stage 2 TT, my friend's stock TT, my brother's Gallardo. I will say the G is abit faster than a stock TT at hight speed. A stock X50 TT will be very similar to the G since the K24 power will come at high end. So I will say is a neck to neck run.
The G at the video is a manual car and we have switch driver to run and have same result. So I will say the result is a true owner reports!
We're going to have a new M5 to test out with our cars shortly. I will let you guys update with video

I recently test drove (twice) a new Gallardo SE (which has 520 HP and lower gearing), and it felt very fast. It didn't feel any slower than my F430. It had a tremendous amount of torque.
The SE and 2006+ models will have the performance bump. It is supposedly 3.8 sec 0-60. A guy on lambo-power.com reportedly measured 0-100 of about 8 sec. lambo-power.com

In terms of feel, how does the Gallardo SE compare to your CGT during short acceleration blasts? TIA

Btw, the F430 also felt lighter than the Gallardo. The F430 motor revs faster too. But acceleration is not as intense as the CGT.

One second is a very substantial difference.
