Thoughts on Converting to RWD
With more torque the problem will show face to even a worse degree, thats what I was saying. An open diff is of no issue with good tires from a roll. It's also much easier to correct a car with an open diff then one with an LSD. Thats one of the reasons why the GT2 is classified as a widow maker......

this just proves you have a built car with little understanding of what the lsd is providing. the "widowmaker" moniker bestowed upon the 996 gt2 has more to do with the ( back then! ) level of power 2wd ( as opposed to the tt's awd ) gt2's have on tap than it does it's inability to handle it's power properly ( whichh it does and redeems itself admirably daily ), as do ALL *properly* setup, 996 tt's that have been "converted" properly rwd. that would be with some form or type of LSD whether a TBD or a proper guard 40/60.
you are "presumably" one of those "street" outlaw
roll racing advocates ( that's in and of itself is telling LOL ) and probably don't even know what all those NON bolt on parts are even supposed to do.btw! aren't you late for the gym?

Already lifted this morning. Don't show your insecurities because you are a bolt on betty, doesn't make you look good.
I know all too well what an LSD is supposed to do and where it performs best which is road course racing. I love how you judge me as a street outlaw, real class act.
I know a lot more then you do and have a lot more experience in that area, your list of mods is telling the story, rookie.....

bolt on betty! love it!
ok, then you're rosy the riveter
i remember you just driving up here, haven't changed a bit. maybe a bit more cocksure with far less now to support it, let alone mod it LOL.
lift on you brute
I trap low 130s and do 0-100 mph in sub 7secs with granny shifts + 60-130 mph in 6.5 on E70 fuel so my lack of an LSD is not an issue unless I want to go around a bendy track....... then it would be a BIG ISSUE
for straightlines i would imagine those to be the conditions any lack of both rear wheels delivering power synchronistically would be the least noticeable. it would be interesting to know if your straightline performance times improved running with an lsd. i bet they would.
but straightline really isn't my kind of driving. but to each their own,..and not that you do it? but 60/130 roll on?! LOL. well, i'll never grow up either ha

Also! Throttle steer aNd. Controlled sideways dirt tracking its essential to have an LSD or TBD!! An absolute must

Anyone know if the GT2/GT3 front stub axles will work in the Turbo wheel carriers? I know they will fit in the bearing and hub, use the same nut. I also know that the wheel speed sensors are compatable. Just wondering if the hub and rotor will be in the same location?
The GT2 stub axles will only work on GT2/3/cup uprights. The diameter of the stub axle pick up ring is different (smaller) on the Turbo. No way around it.

I converted my car to RWD when I had it. I did it because my front diff was toast anyway and my AWD was squat. I was close to 600whp and 650wtq. I had major wheel spin issues, even with drag radials. My 60-130 definitely suffered, as I can see the wheel spin in my logs. If I had to do it over again, I would do a LSD, no matter what kind of driving you do. This will give you the ability to put the MOST power down (if not all), if you are modded. A lack of a LSD will have less of an effect if you are stock or lightly modded.
So I see the next RWD thread is going the same direction as the rest. Everyone doesnt have to be right. There will always be varying opinions as to which is better. I have tracked RWD with no LSD and the times were not much different with it or with AWD. There really isnt some huge difference. AWD or RWD with LSD are preferrable for saftey cushion though.
AWD has more grip overall, but handling wise the understeer will be tricky to get rid of.
RWD or RWD with LSD will have more top end due to less drag on the drivetrain.
You can try the car in RWD without a full conversion by just disconnecting the front driveshaft. The weight of the car is in the back, traction is not a big issue unless you tires are jisr bad tiresn old or cold.
