The lamest build thread ever…. Lots of cool pics though! :)
I’m bored so I figure why not. This thread will not be very helpful to anyone since Im not putting any technical info in it but if anyone is doing a remolval and install of Turbos and you have a question post it up since everything isstill fresh in my mind..
I started out with a 1 Bar tune, plugs and clutch on myK16 car. Like everyone else I soon discovered that because these cars are socomposed and free of drama the 500 crank HP was not enough to keep the smile onmy face.
So thesearch started. I contemplated sendingin my stock k16s for the Biullet upgrade or buying some K24s and sending thoseout. As luck would have it I found agood deal on a set of K24’s that have been rebuilt and upgraded to K24/20GBillets.
I thencontomplated about fuel. A 5bar FPR would have been enough for my goals but I fell on some 72lbs injectors for adecent price so after speaking with my tuner I went with them.
So after getting the injectors sent out to be cleaned and tested I started on the install of the Turbos.
My buddy heating some stuff up to loosen bolts and such.
Rear bumper, intercoolers and exhaust off. Can finally see the turbos but just like everything else on this car they are going to take some time to get off.
Got both turbos out and started working on getting the 72lbs injectors in. This means tackling the top of the engine. Have to remove basically everything attached to the top of the motor. And there is a damn lot of stuff and it is insanely tight. I was about ready to set the car on fire but had some help from an actual tech who was able to do what I just couldn't get at. About half way through the injector part of the job. After that it's just a matter of putting the new turbos on and the million parts back on.
Also so had to buy two check valves that go between the turbo oil feed lines and turbo itself. Cost about $100 each. Part number 996 107 030 78
I've finally got the injectors in after hours and hours of fighting them. All that is left is to put everything I had to remove to get to them back, reconnect all connectors and change all the fluids (front diff, tranny, and engine oil). Coolant was done last year.
Almost identical to my build, K24/20 but I went with Siemens 60lbs injector instead. Consider going with Hitachi MAF or 911 tuning plumbing or you will blow your MAF quickly
Unless I missed it but didn't see mention of IC ?
