ProEFI on the way!! :D
Features or performance? Performance would be hard to do a comparo as I doubt there are many (if any) apples to apples cars on both setups
I put together a thread where I was trying to sort the differences between those two and AEM. In the end having a shop somewhat close and a sale made me jump. the ProEFI guys do seem to have some software issues now and again but that will hopefully improve. Still waiting to see many jump on AEM, they have some interesting features too! Software is going to make a difference, so far the Syveccs software didn't look like something I'd want to use much. That said, the ProEFI habit of making a zillion log files by creating a new one each time the car is started is going to be a PITA I suspect. Each system is going to have it's quirks but in the States ProEFI, of the two, seems more heavily supported IMO.

My habit in the past has been to log pretty much all the time. With the AEM I had I could set parameters for when logging would begin like "WOT, 3K+ RPM, and boost over ambient" and when those were all met it wold begin logging. After a day or two of driving I'd dump the logs, see all of the WOT events that I cared about, and spot anything I felt needed a tweak. So far as I can see the ProEFI doesn't do it that way but I'll find out soon enough
I think putting a USB somewhere easy to get to is a very good idea. I'm still not sure how my display will be mounted or where it's going to be mounted - likely with something that looks like a GPS mount if I had to guess. I'll know when I've got it!

The value of having someone with the the kind of ProEFI & Porsche experience Garth has is exponential. Not only will you have a great running setup in all conditions, but it will be done with safety in mind. All in all its a lot cheaper than a new motor or the headache of a car that's not working as it should. Its hard justifying the added cost of flying someone for something that is essentially intangible, but you'll be happy with the end result.
Even with my mods, I drive my car to the office every single day (other than snow) and it has never let me down...the few quirks I had with cold weather Garth was able to dial out

Also great call on getting the BEST person to tune the system you intend using.
Not going to disagree guys as I agree it makes sense to have the car tuned by someone who is very competent. I feel my plan for tuning is ideal for right now. Once I get the car running I'm going to have my tuner (who I trust as well) here and local give it a go. If I feel like for ONE second that tuning the 996TT platform is too much for him (which IMO it shouldn't be at all) I'll shut it down and figure out a way to have Garth come out and tune her up!
Well you will not find straigh answer , because it depends on your tuner and what he used to tune .. In my case ESmotor used Syvecs so I went with syvecs ECU in my 1000hp 997TT , really amazing !
I have Syvecs that was tuned by Ryan and without a doubt it is the best investment that I have ever made for my car. It is so easy to make adjustments or see what and how my car is running. All I have to do is take out my iPhone and I can see how my car is running, how fast I am shifting to the amount of fuel that I am using or the amount of boost. The adjustability and adaptability is phenomenal.
From what I have seen most 1k+ owners go with Syvecs.
didn't cut the dash. for now i have it stuck on the windshield. I'm making a bracket that will mount under the gauge pod and angle to my right. easily removable
Where do you get that? Not that every Porsche owner using a standalone is on this forum (or any), but off the top of my head:
ProEFI Users
Syvecs Users
Additional food for thought -- EVOMS is finishing up a TT-GT3, but I'm not sure what tuning module they're using. ESMotor has also started tuning Syvecs for Yotech Performance.

The two fastest Porsche's in the world run syvecs. That should tell you something right there. My car and Ekanoo's. Also BBI will be switching from Proefi to syvecs soon after a recent post I've seen. The customer support wifh syvecs is out of this world. I will never build another car without it. Just look at the performance numbers. They speak volumes of what the ecu and the right engine/trans builder can do.
