ProEFI on the way!! :D
Hey all,
After much thought and flip-flopping between different tuning suites and EMS's, I decided that the ProEFI 112 ECU will be the EMS for me.
I felt that for the price/value, the ProEFI covers all my bases as for as Flex Fuel mgmt, anti-lag/rolling, friendliness of self-tuning, live calibration, traction control, dash control, etc. Can't wait to get it and get it installed and start tuning!
Sorry just excited! lol

Thanks for the comments guys!
Blkmgk: A few more things to wrap up on the car as well but this is pretty much the last big thing to get and install. It can't come soon enough!
32krazy: Thanks! Yes a vendor on here (undercover).
DSCOFF: all good things to hear!

if you have the cash order the 4" color can logger. 128 pid on millisecond time. you simply stick a flash drive in the baqck and it automatically catalogs every one of them. worth the jack and has multiple displays as well. i have a usb cable from the back to my harsh and mounted it there so i just plug the flash drive in from there
your in great hands with garth. I'm guessing you will fly him out to tune the car? ( he likes delmonicos and jack daniels!)

not at all. its common in the m/b , nissan, supra world. just about every month a shop close to me has a tuner called "alpha" comes in to tune his customers cars( proefi, aem and others). i have flown garth in 3 times to help with mine. is it cheap? not at all. is it the best way to get a standalone tuned properly and safely? absolutely . you can if course ship the car to his shop and accomplish the same thing but its not near as cheap once transport costs are factored in. his tuning costs are the same in N.J or the west coast
^^^^ thinking of the CAN gauge...that would be easier for me to mount!
Not sure on the tuning yet...a good buddy can tune the proefi and i have experience with other EMS platforms. So I'm thinking ill give it a try to get it fired, cold start, driving tune and see how it goes from there. At the end of the day, i want to be competent with my EMS and don't like to rely on outside resources for tuning.

would be a shame to have such a system and not be able to see the potential because the tuner isn't familiar with v/e tuning nor what this system is capable of and hurt the motor in the process
all i can say is you spent a lot of money on the car. even more money on the proefi. its an amazing system but its only as good as the tuner thats trained to use it. for me none better than garth. i have conservatively 20 hrs tuning in my car and he is constantly coming up with new things it can do to make it run better in cold weather, launch control strategies boost by gear the list goes on and on.'

Even with my mods, I drive my car to the office every single day (other than snow) and it has never let me down...the few quirks I had with cold weather Garth was able to dial out
Thanks for the advice guys! Ultimately, having a car capable of DD'ing in the summer while running at a 1/2 mile event all out (but safely) is my goal. The guy I had in mind locally has tuned on the ProEFI platform for years and is really conservative while paying close attention to detail (he's a software engineer). If I feel like it's too much for him, I won't hesitate to fly out someone like Garth to knock it out for me. We'll see, I still have some time to think about it. I haven't driven the car in months so just thinking if a getting a driving tune on it makes me smile!
Like others have already said, you've already spent a lot of money on this project, why not have a very established & proven tuner dial in your standalone to make sure you're safely getting the best out of your setup and various features.
Garth will get my car and it'll get a good tune. Afterwards I expect I'll do most of my own tuning. I'd do the initial myself but these motors cost too damned much to risk making a stupid mistake and his knowledge will jump start me. I learned the V1 AEM all by myself daily driving the car to work but it's been years and the ProEFI is significantly more advanced. Might as well benefit from Garth's experience.
I'd go with the color display BTW. I've still not gotten mine but will sort that when it goes up to Garth's shop. I need to obtain my exhaust from Unobtanium (grrr!), install intercoolers, and I have a fuel system for the car too. I really wish things weren't moving so slow
