Where does the dash boost gauge get its reading from?

Does the digital boost gauge get its reading from the MAP sensor?

Thanks,
Jason

The boost gauge gets the reading from the "MAP Sensor" in the center of the Y pipe directly in front of the throttle body.

Does it? Switching to a ProEFI supposedly allows you to see proper boost readings even when you've surpassed the range of the stock MAP sensor. Much of the dash is run off of the DME receiving proper CAN signals which AEM, ProEFI, and Syveccs have all had to reverse engineer. If the dash were scaled to the existing MAP sensor's 0-5volt signal I'm not sure you would ever see more than the stock sensor's range even once the sensor was swapped - which due to scaling would make boost read too low.

I'm confused

s65e90 is infamous around these parts
The factory gauge may get its' signal from the MAP sensor but it's def ECU referenced with no vacuum connection.

I have a dedicated boost gauge in front of it and it's amazing how far off the factory dash gauge is. When the factory gauge indicates .2 my boost gauge shows 0 or just -1 of vacuum.

Guys, I'm having trouble finding where I had seen that the ProEFI is controlling the boost gauge, I may be wrong. i could swear there was a video demonstrating it but I've not yet found it.

Okay, I'm not crazy! Just got confirmation from Jason and another ProEFI user that the stock dash readout is controlled by the ProEFI. Ergo the stock dash gauge should also be controlled by the DME when it's installed. I'm not sure where the stock sensor maxes out at and I'm not sure the DME just uses a single sensor for its reading either but the primary input is likely the MAP sensor Pelican pointed out and it's then conditioned through the ECU.

Now, if I can just get a vac reading from the dash display I'll be thrilled lol.
