pss9 noises

Well, after having my PSS9's installed about a month ago at Tischer auto Park, I knew to expect some noises. Now whenever I drive my car, I hear creaking, and some kind of clanking noises from mostly the front end. I expected to hear creaks from the springs binding when I go into my driveway, but now it is just all kinds of noises even driving straight and hitting small bumps. I feel like something is loose. Should I be concerned or is this normal. Car actually drives great...but is noisy as hell.

Yep - I'm getting similar noises from my PSS-9's, although I wouldn't call mine "noisy as hell". I had the dealership check it out and they couldn't find anything. Perhaps just the nature of the beast?

Unfortunately I have the same noises as well. It almost sounds as if it's coming from under the dash near the firewall. I jacked the car up and tightened everything one more time including the sway bar and drop-links but it didn't help.

Are you sure you.........

installed the upper thrust washers on the front struts? The Bilstein instructions are very vague about which OEM parts you are to use in the installation. The shop that installed mine didn't bother to install the thrust washers. I would get the mentioned binding and pop sound at low speeds while slowly turning. Installed the thrust washers, and presto.....quite as stock!

Cheers,

Thanks, I never asked if they installed them, since the dealership did the actual install. I will call my mechanic tomorrow and ask. He did tell me that some parts did get transferred from the stock suspension to new, but not sure about the thrust washers. Just curious on what they look like and approximate size since I am going to call tomorrow. Thanks again.

Good information. I think the dealer missed the front right when mine was installed.

Mine are noise free and no issues. GMG did the install and also installed GT3 bars at the same time. I think the key was their adjustable drop links and their bend to clear the drive shafts. I also had to make sure the length of the connecting bolts was not too long or they would make contact when the wheel was cranked at full lock.

The upper spring mount is probably not tightened down enough on the shock shaft thus causing noise.

Hmmm, I have the TechArt coil-overs and adjustable sways. Mine only clank on full lock at very low speed into and out of parking lots for instance. But they do make noise. Can one just have the drop links changed?

Much depends on the type of PSS9s and the stiffness of the springs used.
