Simple concept of momentum. An analogy to your engine continuing past fuel cut off would be this. You are in 2nd gear at max acceleration. If you push the clutch in (thus removing the driving force of the engine) exactly as you are accelerating hard though 50mph, what will happen? Will your speed stop at 50mph? Of course not. Your car will continue past 50mph simply due to it's momentum even though the wheels are no longer driven. What speed past 50 will the car reach? 52,53,54,55mph? It depends how hard it was accelerating as it went through 50mph. Hope that makes sense.

^ makes perfect sense to me! you'll have a lot less inertia with a lwfw vs the dmfw by way of example. unless i'm not reading/understanding this right.

Makes sense. Sounds like the rev limiter in the tune should be turned down then to stop an over rev and blown motor. I don't know how it works on these cars but on the Mustangs I tune I can set a rev limiter in gear as well as a separate limiter in neutral. Simply dropping the neutral rev limiter down sounds like it could save some engines.

Yes I've missed shifts and went well past redline, thankfully haven't done that in years.

I think the advantage is less to think about for the driver just pull back/push forward.

the throw is Quite long on this shifter though id want to shorten it if it was me.

The rev limiter is there to protect you from exceeding the redline while acellarating in gear but it will not protect you in all instances. A miss shift and over rev with gearbox in neutral are two instances. I agree, having a lower rev limit while in neutral would be beneficial but I'm not aware of any tuner doing that as it's generally not an issue with a standard H pattern box. It would be a very beneficial safety feature to have when running an Sequential box

I have had mine for about three years, installed by Piper Motorsport in Northern Virginia. My transmission is stock. I am at about 500hp at the wheels.

Baddass! Yeah, Mitch is a GREAT dude, and does immaculate work. He co-drove my car in the 2010 Targa Newfoundland.

Are you still getting used to it? Those shifts seem slow just listening to the engine. I shift my normal H pattern shifter faster than that.

i just found out thru a 2000$ lesson that the stock transmission has brass stops on the syncs. they don't like to be forced (or shifted fast). i had 3 and 4 broken and worn upgraded to steel syncs for longer life
