BHT Porsche 911 Turbo wins at Texas Invitational
BHT Porsche 911 Turbo wins at Texas Invitational
We prepped, we tested, we tested again, and we won.
Texas Invitational has three events, King of the Streets, 175mph trap Attack and RWD Challenge.
This event brings the best and fastest street legal cars to one airfield to battle it out in a safe and legal environment. Being an invitational, the roster is filled with the elite of the elite. Being one of only 2 Porsches in attendance, the other was a mostly stock 997 Turbo, I was a huge underdog. The car had been ready since April when the rain postponed us until mid June, so we came very prepared. I was really preparing the car for the 175mph trap class as that's my sweet spot at the end of the 1400-1500 roll race (top of 4th gear). The break out mph is 178mph. I was running 176's. Last TI, i was trapping 163-164 as I had to start in 2nd gear from 60mph. The HTA3586's were super laggy at that rpm, so we reduced the hot sides down to .63 AR. That proved to be a key change and allowed a 3rd gear start under a full throttle brake boost. After a few spinning starts, I reduced the tire pressure enough to hook. The temps were brutal. 95*+ ambient was what we were dealing with. Fortunately I now have an Air to Water Intercooler set up and it worked flawlessly. My IATs stayed under ambient around 80* at all times.
Race day started out beautiful and got hotter and hotter. After only 2 index runs, we were ready to race. We indexed with a 174mph which was 4th seed out of 24 cars.

First round was against Clayton's Viper who indexed with at 153mph. After pulling him, we moved on to Chris Johnson who qualified with a 159mph. Chris and I had a good launch, but after a misstep, I pulled from him and got the win. Round 3 was against Elliot and his 167mph indexing Viper. After a very close race, we edged him out in the end to move on to the semi finals against Luis in his 1500hp GTR. We got a great jump on the GTR and he tried everything he could to pull past us but ended up breaking out with a 179mph. The race was close, a virtual tie, and had he not broken out, we would have had to re race. In the final we matched up with a rookie driver who only qualified with a 130mph but managed to sling shot his way to the finals after being seeded dead last. After 2 red lights, due to his slingshot attempts, we lined up again and we pulled him hard putting a bus length on him to take the championship. The trophy presentation was fantastic as everyone gathered around to see. Big thanks to Amar, the TSS staff and my Sponsor Echelon Team Realty. My IATs stayed under ambient around 80* at all times. I pulled a couple 4.3 60-130's and 3.75 100-150's.

Here are all 5 rounds in order. As you can see, I was a little fired up on the last race as the other car kept trying to slingshot me.
