Broken drives side turbo vent line

Hello fellow six speeders,

During my removal of my drivers side turbo, I had extreme difficulty removing my hard lines. I was able to remove my oil feed line with heat and some PB Blaster. However, the dry(vent line) did not want to come out and cracked. It cracked a hair above the threaded bolt to the oil surge tank. I need some opinions on how some of your would repair it. What would be the best repair without replacing the line since it looks like a difficult line to replace and a couple of hours of labor. Can anyone tell me the exact reason for the vent? My thoughts are that it aids in moving fluid across return line and recirc. Thanks!

Some repairs I was thinking of..

1)Compression fittings.
2) Power Steering type hose and clamp(temp repair)
3)Welding in a new sleeve.

If it's just a crack, could you braze it?

I had thought that was just pressure side but it makes sense to do both with braided and he's got it all figured out. No more worries if you do that!

So that side (drivers side) has pressure?

No no, I had thought SRM was just doing braided oil feeds, I hadn't realized he was replacing other hoses there. The feeds are pressurized to the turbo obviously. I'd call them and ask Sean about it.

The line that goes to the top turbo tank is the oil pressure line and the one that goes to the side of the oil tank is the oil suction line. The oil is sucked by a pump located in the water pump housing and this oil goes back to the crankcase..... Picture corrected, thanks 03EvoIII !!!

That's incorrect ^^^. That line you have marked as pressure is an air vent line...no 'pressure' per say is in that line.

The small hardline is the OIL FEED and the big suction line is the OIL RETURN.

I would say yes it can be done but you should lower the engine about 4 inches to reach the attachment at the T just besides the top of the oil tank.... It is really easy to lower the engine, just place a jack under the engine, remove the two nuts on the carrier (18mm socket and 63 ft/lb of torque when reinstalling) and lower the engine maximum 4 inches. You will be able to reach the top attachment ....

you can reach it but you will barely be able to get a pair of pliers on the clamp. if its like mine was the clamp was facing the oil tank and no way to get to it. since my engine was out i was able to pray it off but no way to get at it when motor was installed. good luck!
