My 996 Turbo's engine compartment fan comes on right away and stays on all the time because a fuse was installed. I forget the location. This fuse present somehow runs the fan all the time the key/engine is on.

AFAIK the fan and fuel pump are not on the same circuit. (The spoiler and engine compartment lid are though. Don't ask.)
Going to check all the fuses are in the right place this afternoon alongwith the diode under the power steering pump. Thanks for the input men.

Fuel Pump Activation Issue

Bit late replying but did get the fuel pump and car finally working. I think the fault was a dodgy furl pump relay but I reterminated the loom and replaced the plug just in case.

My turbo likes its new fuel pump actually seems faster but thats probably just in my head.

If ur up around the 600+ hp mark you would be mad not to upgrade ur fuel pump as the stock cant keep up when u really get moving.

Oh and thanks to the rabbit with his efforts to assist via Skype.

Cheers men,
Tim

Oh and the bloody fan there are two fan options one turns on after xar is stopped and heat soaked we have all heard the fan running in the garage at high speed.

The other is the optional fan which runs with the engine at a more moderate speed and turns on with tge fuel pump when the engine is running.

Maybe this wasnt an option in the states due to the more moderate climate than what is expected down under.

Anyway easy to check as there is a fuse for the optional fan in the fuse panel as marked in fuse list if you have the option

Ah good to know. Well my fan runs with the key on (FP on) as well so I think it's normal here as well. I'll hunt around for the option fan in the fuse box. I would imagine this is something can be disable with a tune as well??

Anyways glad you got it working!!
