Can someone do me a favour? :)

hi guys, would someone be able to hop in their car, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the accessories position. Then press on your gas pedal and tell me what the factory boost gauge says. When I do so it shows the following and I wanted to know if all cars do this.

While pressing on the pedal all the way it reads 0.5bar

While pressing about 1/4 of the way down it reads 0.4bar

While pressing 1/8 of the way down it shows 0.2bar.

I just found it funny that with the car off and the key in the accessories position that the boost gauge would read boost when there is obviously none.

Thanks!!

Ya, engine off with the key turned to accessories.

Did you try it to confirm yours stays at 0.0bar?

Bad MAP sensor? That may have been your problem all along too?

Starting to think so. What else would cause the gauge to show boost when the pedal is pressed and the engine not running?

I was actually going to update my other thread today. I did some things to the car and now see 1.3bar in 3rd gear right at redline so things are getting better. I just need the 1.3bar earlier in the RPM range as I think I should be able to reach that at like 5K RPM.

I'll go update that thread right now.

Thanks for checking! With any luck this is a hint as to why I am having the boost issue. Not sure that the gauge is the specific issue since the car felt a bit slugish but I think this is an indicator for sure.

I can't recall ever wanting to hear of someone's issue being resolved so badly ! Its something to do with boost issues how frustrating they can be, while all the while the car usually runs OK and we are merely trying to regain "lost" boost. Or.. Think we are!

1.3 sounds pretty darn good to me tho bro I'm thinkin ya nailed it! Let's hope

So I get home and start to diagnose this issue. I get in the car turn the key, press the gas and it shows .5bar.

So I unplug the MAP connector and do the same and the gauge still shows .5 bar. Hmmm

I plug the MAP back in and unplug the MAF. Get in the car and now it stays at 0. Hmmm

Plug the MAF back in and go step on the pedal and again stays at 0. WTF?

Turn the car on then off then press the pedal and still staying at 0 now. I swear this cat hates me. lol

Sigh

Maybe test the Map sensor plug with a multimeter, check for a short or grounding issue.
Has your engine ever been removed?

this may sound dumb but you did the reset calibration after unplugging/reconnecting the maf?

you've got some kinda gauge thing goin on. esp if you are now again hitting 1.2-1.3 and the car is performing as it should. but what do i know.. strange quirks indeed.
