Ruiner is infamous around these parts
Here is the synopsis:

Aston Martin V8 Vantage versus BMW M6 versus Porsche 911 Carrera S

If the magical car fairy visited you in the middle of the night, and offered you any one of the above, which would you choose? It's a hard question to ask, but your heart is probably telling you one of them is the one for you.

And this is an odd part of the market too, because the Porsche has 140bhp less than the BMW, but in terms of putting its power through rubber and on to the road, it is the superior car. The Porsche 911 is a 40-year-old design now, which isn't as much of a disadvantage as you might think. It has matured with age. The 911 engineers know the engine is in a stupid place, and they've worked hard to make the car brilliant in spite of that. The Aston of course wins hands down on looks and sound. Its V8 engine produces a magnificent roar, it looks the best of the bunch, and unlike the BMW it won't make the general public hate you. The advantage of the BMW is that it can summon 500bhp. The distinct downside is that stupid computer system, which is both difficult to use, and nearly completely useless. Unless, that is, you want to set the length of time it takes the lights to go out if the wind is blowing from west to east, and the moon is in a waning gibbous phase.

At the end of two days arguing, fishing, being rained on and more arguing, the result was two votes for the Porsche, and Jeremy insisting that the Aston was his choice of car.
Looks like the Porsche took the win, 2 to 1, while the BMW didn't even get a vote.

And although the 997S is a great car and got the honerable mention over those cars especially the M6, people arent going to care because most people wont be doing time trials at the track and care about using high hp on the street more

So tell me, how come your over there?
Well, I was finishing up my degree, and contemplating the options open to theoretical physicists in the UK. Clearly, that didn't take long, which is why it was convenient that my girlfriend at the time has a father who owns a consulting company. In America. A phone call later, and she got him to hire me sight unseen (off her own bat - I didn't know she was even thinking about it until later).

So, I wound up in the US a couple of months later, bought my first suit, and started working. Who else do you know that got hired for sleeping with the boss's daughter?

Compressing the next decade into bullet points:

1) Broke up with girl 6 months later. She dumped me, so I didn't get fired.
2) Worked my way up until I was running the department I was originally hired into.
3) Bought my first 911.
4) Got married (to a coworker).
5) Got back from our honeymoon, and turned in our resignations the next day.
6) Started our own company.
7) Became a dad 3 months ago.

Reading it back, it sounds a lot more easy cruising than it actually was...

So I just watched the top gear episode in question. It really amazes me how much improvement porsche made in the 997, it really is a superb car.

I think as track times are concerned its a better car then the M6, however I must say that in that episode they were testing in the rain, and Im sure its hard to put that 500hp to the ground when its wet. I think if it was dry the M6 would have done better, but probably still would not have beat hte 997S.
