What spark plugs does everyone run?
Thanks! Is the heat range comparable to a stock plug?
Anyone know if NGK, Bosch or any other company offers an iridium plug for the 996tt?
And for those running the F5DP0R, isn't this a hotter plug than stock? Isn't the idea to run a colder plug on modified cars?

nope, the 5 range ( beru/bosch et al ) is stock. 6 is the colder number.
But in Boschland, lower numbers are colder, so the F5DP0R is cooler than the FR6LDC.

Yes that all makes sense. But I've confused myself. So by running a 6 Bosch rather than the stock 5 i'm running a hotter plug? I also thought tuned cars are better off running one step colder not hotter. Therein lies my confusion.

http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/tech_su...k_plugs/p2.asp It can be confusing but Bosch seems the easiesr for me to remember higher=hotter.

i'm beginning to suspect we may have a similar situation given their cross compatibility and my inability to locate the original "5" range plug which was oem fitment when the car was new.
it is ( or is it? lol ) possible the "6" plug? superseded the "5" in the way the 997 trans mount superseded the 996 trans mount. either way, the 6 is what i have been using as others do also.
GT2 plug is HOTTER then 'early' TT plug. Great sparkplug, for a mild bolt-on car I wouldn't go anyother way. Long-lasting, reliable, consistent spark/no 'misses', easily acquired=win.
I've removed iridium's before(on Mezger and others) and find the engine smoother on factory copper plug, YMMV...

interesting though, i wasn't able to quickly locate a "5" to compare. is it possible the 6 is ( NOW ) the recommended plug in bosch/beru for ALL 96 turbos, tuned or not?
rob..can you explain to me the info on the chart as it very clearly indicates that the 6 would be HOTTER than the 5 on bosch/beru. this is making me a bit nuts.. or moreso than "usual"

From what I can tell through PET and other sources, the 'GT2'/7410 has superseded the old early TT plug across the range.
IIRC, the heat range 5 we are talking about is in reference to the Beru scale, while the 6 heat range for GT2 is on the Bosch scale...anyone have a Beru to Bosch conversion scale?

thx i was momentarily ( weekly? ) stuck on stupid. thx for clarifying. but that was my original assertion. i was running ( am ) the one step COLDER plug (6) as my car is decently bolted on, and eats plugs as most 575+rwhp cars are known to do

though it is telling to note in my pelican link. they list beru/bosch in the 6 as being interchangeable. as in "same".
