PET has always listed the FR6LDC as the same plug for both the TT and GT2. I don't know why people think it's the GT2 plug. A Bosch heat range "6" plug is also listed in PET for the 997TT/GT2/GT2RS even though those cars run much higher boost, upwards of 1.6 bar in the GT2RS. Porsche only specs a colder heat range "5" Bosch plug for the much higher compression normally aspirated GT3/GT3RS. I'm not sure why people keep insisting on reinventing the wheel. I've always run the OEM plug with out any complaints or issues whatsoever whether running 91 octane or 100. The stock plug is what RUF uses in all their Turbo cars also. I preventively change plugs once every year or two and they come out looking great..

I've made a mistake here, my apologies!...the GT2 is indeed a hotter plug then the early '01 plugs, the charts haven't lied. The update was to avoid fouling; basically Porsche went too cold on '01 and needed to revise.

^ really. my tuning shop told me that the 5 was stock ( in 02/3 ) and what came out of my car before i was in charge of it.

but i have always used the 6. i never wanted to "reinvent" anything but anything oem gt2 seemed ok to me lol

so... it s HOTTER plug. whew. mystery ( for me ) solved. thx again.

I'd like to see a copy of 2000/2001 PET....
Porsche delivered 2000/1 TT cars with the colder plugs.

Sorry again for the confusion Mark, the lack of coffee + pain meds today have me 'off'...should have spent the extra minute thinking before typing
Your shop is 'correct', 2000/2001 TT's did come with the cold '5' plugs, believe spark blow-out on the higher boost/HP GT2 was the cause for change to '6'
Cheers,
Rob

Which also means that the prior owner was running the original OEM plug for an 01..though by 02/03 the beru/Bosch OEM was the 6 range even for stock turbo, even though the gt2/x50 cars made more efficient use of the hotter 6 plug. Or else they wouldn't ( presumably ) have made it the OEM fitment for 02 and beyond.

Now you guys have me really curious what plugs are in my car. My new plugs have arrived finally (sender forgot to ship them for over a week). Going to be changing them out this afternoon.

So quick question. How tight do you put the plugs in these cars? Is it pretty standard like most cars? I only ask because removing the old ones required some serious muscle. They were almost seized in there. Most bolts though have been on this car. I'm assuming that was not normal and I should just put a dab of anti-seize on the threads and install as I would in any other car.

BTW will post pics later. Old plugs look pretty crappy, a lot of build up on them I thought. I'm betting it'll run a lot better now with new plugs.

they must have been in there a long time, typically come out very nice/easy.
New plugs 24ft.lbs
Do not use anti-seize.
Should run strong now

No anti-seize? Isn't that standard for aluminum heads/threads? Thanks for the torque spec.

The plugs have a zinc/cad coating and if replaced on a more regular basis never seize/corrode in the thread, so no need for anti-seize...anti-seize can also affect electrical conductivity
