While I love 3" straights, a well made x pipe just sounds cleaner. We are making our own variant and are excited to test it.
Meanwhile, you can't go wrong with Markski's design and some of the other 3" x pipes on the market. Just find the one that you like the best - the more real world testing that you can do the better.
I do want to share my latest experience with the Unobtainium Titanium / cat less 3" x pipe with anti-drones. It sounds FANTASTIC. Low end has a straight pipe-esque sound and as the revs go up a more exotic howl follows. The wastegates scream, it crackles and pops all while maintaining a truly tame interior noise level with the windows closed and as for drone, there really isn't any - especially when compared to straights. It's really an awesome exhaust.
Hoping I came across your YT video as I also saw in your post here you have a SpeedTech 2.5XP. I wanted to ask you if you were running cats or not cats and how you feel it was going with your OEM tips. Look forwarding to hearing from you.
I had a ST xlerator for about 2 years. Sounded great but rusted out. I had holes repaired twice during that span. Thin metal. And I live in Florida- no winter salt.
I switched to europipe and wouldn't recommend anything esle. Build quality is off the charts and the two systems simply don't compare. Its slightly more expensive, but not as expensive as having to buy 2 exhausts! I wish I'd have done the EP first go around. Here's a side by side.

Wow, I have the SpeedTech 2.5 X Pipe and it looks nothing like that, it has been on the car for maybe 6+ years. I haven't noticed anything unusual. My only very minor comment would be the location of the primary O2 sensor bungs. On one side, I think the passenger, it is too close to mounting nut/bolt on the flange, making it slightly tricky for those swapping between CATS and pass though pipes. However, it is not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination. I'm swapping them out on jack stands in the garage.
I ended up going with SpeedTech during their Black Friday sale. Installed a 2.5XP with cats about a month ago. Sound is amazing. I am hoping its the right blend of price + sound + "performance". My other choice was SOUL but I couldn't justify the pricing. Time will tell if this was the right purchase.
