How to tell the difference bt regular 6TT vs X50 Package
So, it's a pretty straightforward question, but I can't seem to track down the answer. How car you tell the difference between a "regular" 996 TT versus one that has the X50 package?
I tried doing a quick search, but couldn't quite find a good description.
TIA

That's not always the case, my car does not have X50 on the sticker under the hood but it has the $18000 power package (which is the X50 option) on the original window sticker. So it's not always that straight forward.
If it has the X50 under the hood, it definitely is. If it doesn't have the sticker but the owner claims it is an X50, you can look up the VIN and the X50 option should be listed.

another less scientific yet telling method of checking absent a frunk sticker or vin search would be to run your had across the intercoolers under the rear vents and if they are rough to the touch ( like a cheese grater ) then they are most likely the larger gt2/x50 ic's which the stock k16 car does not have.
According to my owners manual, 0-100 km/k times are 4.2 seconds for both, maximum speed 189.4 mph and high power version (x50) is 190.7 mph.
Decide for yourself if the X50 package is worth 1.3 mph at redline in 6th gear, while some say, which has been my experience, less perceived throttle response and slower spool.

i've had both. the x50 has an advantage on the top, and the k16 obviously spools faster and i stand by my assertion that hybrid 16/24's STILL offer the best of both in one turbo. i think was a bigger advantage in 02 when the cars were "new" than it is now, given the advances offered by billet 16's etc.
worth $17,800? i dunno. i enjoyed mine, and it was to some, ...presumably.

Look through the rear vents and see/feel if the IC fins protrude past the tubes of the core...I can take a comparison photo if anyone would like
Cheers,
