BBI doesn't sell these anymore? What happened? They were $900 at set 3 years ago.

Yeah I recently tried to buy a set of them from BBi and was informed that they no longer offer them. In any case OP everyone has an opinion on coils and I can say that new ones and new plugs make a difference and given the option I'd put upgraded coils in if they weren't too expensive.

i paid 200 for my last set of beru coils. given the plasma coils ( that used to be 800/900 from bbi ) are no longer available and the same coils are now 1200 from their mfg/distribber?!

would you say they were "worth" (a) 800/900? or (b) 1200. or (c) neither ( or.. sure, if you've got $ to burn ) instead of coils? becuase i have no doubt they run more efficiently, and will last "longer" than bosch/beru. but 6x longer??!

If you plan on keeping your car for 5 years, you will get your money back. Peace of mind - priceless. Heck, at that price, you could switch them out if you sell the car and get some of that money back too.

the reported numbers john@speedtech just posted and are impressive. no doubt they are good to have, but I never knew they possibly added power!

Folks might want to do a little math on those reported gains. I'd bet a gain of under 5% is within the range of repeatability of most dynos. Considering the time it takes to swap coils the chances of getting an accurate A to B test raises eyebrows here. Certainly if you've got ignition woes a hotter coil will help but if you're already properly igniting the mixture I'd question spending a grand or more to upgrade. What coils was that 1k hp car running prior to switching?
