I've been keeping a pretty close eye on prices, as I'm going to pull the trigger on either a 996 GT2 or 997.2 GT3 in March. 6GT2 values have certainly moved up markedly in the past 12 months. It seems like the asking prices are still highly correlated with miles. I should take advantage of this and pick up a higher miles, well loved car.

If we are on the cusp of another "2008 style" 3000 point market correction, you might be well served to wait before pulling the trigger. The Porsche pricing bubble will rapidly deflate as it did last time...especially on the cars that have gone up or doubled in price over the last few years. Airplanes and hight end cars take the biggest hits..

Mileage is definitely a big factor as well! ...that said, clean and higher miles vs rough and low miles all day!

I agree, the market is on its toes right now...car market will feel the hit.
That said, if we do see a strong market pullback, I think the GT cars will survive much better than the 'standard' air-cooled car craze...MASSIVELY smaller production and from what I see, GT cars are used/driven in a more active fashion(intrinsic value), vs air-cooled collecting/speculation...just my opinion of course
I'd rather all cars be more affordable for all enthusiasts, enjoy them-not park them

you're in an unique situation relative to having fingers on the pulse of both the cost vs "value" of both planes as well as cars, but i'm not sure a more prescient prognostication has been uttered here today. one with which i wholeheartedly agree. we in for a "correction" that will be looked back on in over time in awe and trembling, for some time to come. if ever there were time to garage a gt2/3, this would, in my uneducated opinion, be it.

That's good advice to wait. A big correction is a real possibility. If the car market takes a heavy hit, it might be the opportunity to pick up something really sweet.
