I may be wrong, but good luck. I think you need to up the amount of $$$ you want to send to pick up a tt with those miles for that price.

jags is likely to be right, the miles and the money don't match. Check out ebay for an indication of what may be available.

The prices below are averages (with mileage) from Manheim auto auction for 2001 996 TT for the past month. The low of $55K was in fair or worse condition, the high of $71.5K was in above average condition. These are wholesale prices, dealers usually tack on $6K to $9K. If you find one at a dealer for $60 to $65K with under 20K miles I would be suspect that there is something wrong with it.
K

ATLANTA $66,900 13,040miles
IG H $67,000 23,761
FAAO $55,000 10,789
KC $69,700 14,755 1
MANHEIM $59,550 29,595
NEVADA $62,125 42,614
RIVRSIDE $63,250 35,757
W PALM $71,500 13,402 1

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think he said "Porsche Dealer" not auction, be it Mannheim or eBay. If he is looking at purchasing from a dealer, my guess is that he is interested in a Certified car rather than hammered Bandini from an auction with a questionable pedigree.

That said, plan to spend at least in the mid-80's for a certified car at a dealer in SoCal with less than 20k miles.

Before or after the dealer markup/be-the-first-one-on-your-block-to-have-one surcharge?

Beavis,

As I stated in my reply, dealers will add $6 to $9K to the price they pay at auction. So if the dealers are paying $69K for a car with 14K miles you will pay at least $75K for the car. The used Porsches you see at Porshce dealerships are not always cars that they sold new that were traded in for a newer model. There are hundres of auto auctions all over the country that dealers go to in order to purchase cars to sell on their lots. You must have a dealers licence to purchase a car at these auctions.

As far as pedigree the cars bought at action are what they are. You may be referring to what kind of condition they are in. The only way to know for sure is if you knew the previous owner and if you get a PPI, otherwise you are taking a chance.

If you buy a "Porsche Certified" car from a Porsche dealership it should have a warranty. You can also purchase an extended warranty from the dealership or one of the companies that offer them.

From what I have seen you can get an 01 with aprox. 30k miles from a private party for about 65k. IMO, if you get a thorough PPI and everything checks out, it won't be a bad deal. I saw a CPO 01 turbo advertise for 71k...not in the So Cal area though.
