Came to say goodbye

Well, yesterday was the last day with my 996TT. After almost 7 years of fun, it was time for something different. Loved the car, particularly in the midwest winters (anyone that garages theirs for the winter is missing out).

But we've been in Florida for over three years, so the AWD appeal waned.

Decided to stay in the 'older German car' genre, so I am now the proud owner of a 2005 Mercedes SL65.

Totally difference cars, but both fun in their own way. Something about 700+ ft-lbs of torque is intoxicating. It is also more comfortable for an old, wide butt like mine.

So instead of a family with a Porsche and a Mercedes, we're not a two AMG family.

Thanks to everyone here -- this is both a fun site to read and an incredible resource.

jose2077 is infamous around these parts
Do you have the "wide" body SL? What is your impression between each car? I too am thinking about an SL65 or the SLS.

The deals you can find on those SL65s are crazy good. Depreciation is your ally now - those cars are beasts.

My 2005 SL65 with a Eurocharged tune only, went 10.99. Absolutely LOVED the car. Took an ABSOLUTE BATH when I sold it. I'm not sure if the depreciation ever ends with that car? Good luck, keep it and enjoy it.
