Wish you were local! lol I have a neighbor who's a body guy but too busy to do anything for me so far. He's got one hell of a booth too apparently and some sort of crazy German compressor that's near silent using a screw system instead of pistons. Clean cool air he says...

I'm going to have to take a ride up and take a look. I'm sure that the pictures don't do it any justice.

I ended up going with a Precision GT2 look front bumper. Came in quick, and packaged very well. I just dropped it off to paint this evening along with a few other pieces, I'll post up some pics once its all back together and detailed up.

Please let us know about fit and finish. I really like the look of the Precision bumpers but doing another 'glass bumper gives me hives lol

Which bumper did you get that gave you problems? What were the issues with it?

Just the things I've mentioned before - fit isn't quite perfect, rock impact created a star in the paint, zero flex if you rub anything like a driveway entrance, etc. It's a Techart knock off, might be real but I'm not sure. I've got Techart stamps on other pieces for sure so who knows. Looks decent but needs a repaint and maybe a little repair. I want the 997 style that has the DRL but keeps the 996 lights (sigh)

Not every 996tt is a 40k car......and if you have owned it since new then who gives a crap? 10k vs 130k purchase price is nothing.

Same GT2-look "U"boat here

I've been lurking and reading about this GT2/Tech Art look front end issue for over a year and I decided to go with the Precision Porsche GT2 front bumper and an OEM lower lip. I just got the car back today from the local P dealer bodyshop and while the bumper was getting switched I also had them paint the OEM side skirts and rear, lower IC exit vents seal gray to match. My car has a PSS9 suspension that came on the car when I got it and it's got 19" Champion RG5s on it. In the end, I am totally smitten by the look, but two issues have cropped up as a result of this transformation.

1. The car's front lip is now too low to the ground to go up my car lift ramps so I had to order new longer (9lbs = super light!) ramps tonight so my daily driver doesn't have to sit outside forever. That was an unplanned expense.

2. The P dealer that did the bodywork claimed the OEM lip spoiler wouldn't stay attached to the PP brand bumper and had to basically permanently attach it. Also you may have noticed that my lower lip isn't black. That wasn't my initial plan. What happened you say? Well, the bodyshop didn't check with me before prepping the lower lip for paint as they apparently thought I wanted to go with an aerokit look too. I found this out, when they contacted me to see what color I wanted the lip painted!

The bodyshop suggested I go with black or gray and as you can see I went with gray . I can live with that, BUT the issue here is that the front lip is rather low now AND my lip is painted AND it won't detach on impacts. Basically a decent hit/scrape to the lip and bumper might get damaged too since it's all one piece now .

For reference, my front lip at the lowest points (off center a about 16") is only 4.25" from the ground. Curb-ended driveways used to be doable with my C4S lip at an angle, but no way now. I may raise the PSS9 up a bit once I do some more careful testing. I always have to do things the hard way.
