I used to ski close to 50 days per year and people called me powderhound as I was the first in line on big snow days, always on the hunt for untracked snow. [url=https://flic.kr/p/zSMGrh]
+1, pad cost is huge on these cars...hopefully as the car-platform/shape ages, the pricing will better match an older car owner...
...that said, my $$$ PFC pads performed excellently again today

I run the 997GT3 pad shapes so the price stays high unfortunately. Rears now retail for $550 and fronts close to $500.

When you factor in (in roughly decreasing order, assuming no crashes), the cost in time, wear on the car, insurance, track fees, tires, pads, gas, and brake fluid; the cost of a dedicated set of track pads to maximize enjoyment & safety is pretty minor. I'd vote to invest in a set of dedicated track pads, and better yet also wheels/tires, and keep your street stuff nice.
Review ?
Did you get this setup installed ? If so, how do you like it compared to stock ?
So I have decided to do the 997 350mm Rotor Upgrade as Mike Tibbets at VividRacing has given me a great deal on the upgrade that I just could not refuse.
Yes I know I should be getting GiroDiscs but the exchange rate is a joke then add shipping down under I cant justify the Giros when i'm not at the track that often.
Plus I'm studying at the moment finishing my Masters Mariners Degree.
Being ashore so long doesn't go well for a seafarer another reason why i'm even more broke than usual.
So the back to the point of my post
what are the best performance street pads available for standard 996T calipers that will handle occasional track days but do not cost the earth ????
Cheers Men.

Agree on the above. Track Time is WAAYYYY too expensive to lose any time due to cooking off a set of street pads. If you KNOW you are going to be on track multiple times a year, a dedicated set of track pads saves you money in the long run (last longer) and can save your car from an untimely demise. Ht-10's work well for the price....
The fact is that street pads are not designed to handle the operating temps of track driving for 20 or 30 min sessions. Track pads are the first thing I would invest in if I signed up for an event, right next to upgraded brake fluid.
