Thumbs up 996 intercoolers - another great alternative

We wanted to let you guys know of a great new intercooler upgrade by our friends at do88 for the 996 turbos that have been released along with their 997.1 Turbo intercoolers. They come with cast end tanks backed by proper CFD analysis to ensure least pressure drop across them. Compared to OEM 996/997 intercoolers there is no chance of end tanks popping off or breaking under higher boost.

The intercooler kit comes with all associated hardware required and will bolt up without any adjustments/trimming/cutting of the OEM intercooler ducting. They also come with far better than OEM silicone piping included.

Here are some pictures of the kit, flow and IAT data that do88 has gathered comparing them to the OEM 996 GT2 and 997.1 Turbo intercoolers.

Price/performance metrics on this kit is really hard to beat out there that is for sure. Let us know if any questions at all.

We've also started a thread in the 997 Turbo section on the 997.1 units which has also spawned some great discussion and comparisons with the OEM 997.2 intercoolers that many of us have grown to appreciate on the IAT control front while choosing to accept various fitment especially on the 996 Turbo cars that involve far more cutting of the OEM intercooler ducting than on the 997.1.

For those that have inquired, here's a link to a 996 specific kit. As fitment differs slightly from the 997.1, this 996 specific kit ensures almost direct bolt on fitment with very minor trimming of the mounting brackets. See link in a post below for install instructions.

I like these coolers and glad their is a 996 kit...
But I haven't seen any aftermarket ICs that doesn't require some minor trim of that inner lip inside the duct... How is it able to sit flush in the pictures?
Are these fitting inside the inner lip piece or on top of it?

Any core larger than stock will require trimming to make the bigger cores work. The stockers are.. I typed a bunch more sh*t here but F it, I'm not doing it again on this ****ty iPhone.

First use the mic button instead on the iPhone

But that's what I know any IC with a pretty much flat surface needs that little edge trimmed on the ducts that fits in the stockers groove to fit flush. But post 2 on the thread claims not for these.

Here are the install instructions we just received from do88. If you look at Step 13 of the document the edges at the mounting brackets do in fact need a trim and be taken out but that is all that is required to make them fit as well as shown in the pictures provided.

Those are some of the best instructions I've seen... Thanks for posting.
This the norm on AM IC's but its not as bad as the AP/B6 style ICs where you have to cut the lips completely off to work.

Looks like you should edit your previous posts so as not to mislead.

Why not just provide a fresh pair of o-rings?

I've put them on my santa wishlist

Have you got any data on them for heat soak over extended usage? How do they compare to the other popular choice of 997 GT2RS intercoolers?
