Exhaust flames on shifts or lift.

Mine does on when I lift but I have 3in Kline no cats.

When I had my catless Remus it didn't do it very often. The mufflers caught most of the flames.

I love the accompanying "POP!" between when shifting. I imagine most car-normals think there is something wrong with my car when it does that.

I run on 93 and have straight pipes. Sometimes I know when it does it. Pretty audible. But it's never consistent, or if I "try" and do it, it won't.

That's the best explanation I can give also. Billet K16s + EPL 91 + Fueling + 3" Speedtech XCellerator Catless

Many vehicles do it if the head pipes are loose at the head and cold air is drawn into the pipe as soon as the the accelerator is lifted. Many race cars have spring retained exhaust headers to minimize fractures and cracks rather than welded flanges. The results are not air tight seals and popping on decel results. Also many vehicles will pop on decel if the idle or pilot jetting is too lean. When the throttle is closed regardless of rpm, you are on the idle fuel circuit. This is generally with carbs.

I was always told if you're tune is a little rich on the top end, which seems to provide a safety margin., the quick shut of the throttle results in a little extra fuel being spit into the exhaust.

I don't know if my car shoot flames (never had someone behind me while driving to tell me) but I have an Unobtanium X-Pipe without cats, headers, and a stage 2 cobb tune and i typically get a very loud POP on WOT 2nd and 3rd gear shifts.

I've got video of my car doing this a few years back when it still had k16's and an open ebwerks exhaust. Now I've got a catless speedtech with a28's and have had friends following me tell me afterward that it shoots some really nice flames I think having no cat's makes it a lot easier for a flame display to happen.

I think this is a little more accurate.

I can shoot pretty good flames out of my Alpha and my EVT...
