Be Careful out there
Limitup lives in a dream world and accordingly has no worries about crime.
Anyone else living anywhere on the planet can be an innocent victim of a random crime, so if you can prevent yourself from becoming a victim - shouldn't you?

"You just have to wonder about the wisdom of putting yourself in situations where you feel you need a gun." - limitup
Let's not blame the criminal. Oh no, they are just doing what they know how to do. Let's blame the victim for putting himself in said situation to become a victim.
No that's not what I said. I said if you put yourself in the position to be a victim, then you're a fool. Of course a random violent crime can happen to anyone at any time. A drunk driver could also smash into you tomorrow morning and kill you. Do you obsess over that too??

Oh well, I can't really communicate to you what I'm saying any better than I already have. Perhaps one final example to try to illustrate my point ...
Who's better off, the guy who lives in the most dangerous city in America and carries a gun, or the guy who lives somewhere safe?
As I've said several times, if you have common sense and live your life accordingly, the odds of being in a situation where you need a gun is no more than the odds of 100s of other random things that you don't think twice about.
Although, if someone was trying to steal your car and you would "shoot without hesitation" even though your life wasn't in danger, I guess I shouldn't expect you to understand what I'm saying.
Let's agree to disagree ...

limitup - In that case, you might as well not wear a seatbelt, right? I mean, the odds of getting in a severe enough accident to where you will actually need it to avoid serious injury is rather low in terms of how much you drive. Right? Most people go their whole lives w/o being in a serious car accident much like those that are not affected by crime. However, you still wear the seatbelt and I still carry a gun...just in case.
Like I said earlier, I'd rather have something and not use/need it than to need something and not have it.
Just a thought...

I keep a mace in the car in case of carjack. It's non lethal and I'd be inclined to use it as a way to fight back if someone threatened me. I can't imagine myself wounding someone if they are just after my car.
I do think gun ownership in a house is reasonable given that in a house, you have more room to actually use a gun. In a car, it's just too close range.

That's not a valid analogy. If you aren't wearing a seatbelt you can be seriously injured in almost any car accident, even going 20 mph. Combined with the fact that during your lifetime you are more likely to be in a car accident than be the victim of a violent crime (unless you live in the hood?), it definitely makes sense to wear a seatbelt at all times.
Limitup, as you say lets agree to disagree.
BUT some of your statements are just untrue in my point of view, let's just say you do live in a "safe" place you are bound to travel to that place from another "safe" place and in doing so the odd's of you not traveling thru some areas that are shady at some point are pretty low. Unless you work and live in that place you call safe or dont get out much. I dont know if you are married and have kids its none of my business but you are obligated to protect your family and yourself and not allowing the certain element that is so ever present in our society from causing harm to innocent people like yourself. To sum it up I dont wish for anyone to get hurt and to stay out of harms way and LV Eric kudos to you for handling your self in that situation the way you did and am glad you are safe. We are not saying here that if you own a gun like most do that we are brandishing our weapons at every knucklehead that cuts us off.

Guns suck. They are designed to kill. The less guns there are in the world, the better. I'm from Sweden, where almost nobody carries a gun and very few are victims of gun violence. Seems to work out pretty well.
My opinion.
My opinion.
with all this story i remmember my first trip in USA in arizona mostly around flagstaff so the first day in this city we were on the carpark for safeway and saw 3 man with gun under hem shirt then in the evening the same in the hotel i find that really crazy that you need to carry a gun always to fell safe i don t juge just say but one of my fatherfriend now is working in LA and say he always carry a gun in his car here we are not able to own a gun.

I was in a situation once where I was in a shady area and approached by some "thugs" wanting to hurt me and steal/vandalize my car. If it wasnt for me thinking on my feet and getting the hell outta there when I had the chance to I don't know what would have happend to me. A gun is not an option for me at this time because I am only 17 but after this experience I will get my handgun license and carry one at all time's when I become of age. It is a crazy world out there and I say better be safe than sorry.
