Ruf r550 turbo spec

Does anyone know what turbos ruf uses on the r550 package? Are the k24s or something specific to ruf?

I believe it's a ruf specific k24 hybrid. Could be completely off base though

I seen 2 sets off of Ruf cars.. green ruf tag, polished inducer, stock compressor wheel, clipped turbine wheel, stock wgs... IDK what package that was but the billed showed $6850 for a set ... k16 based... that;s alot of money for a green tag on a turbo.. lol
the client did k16 billets and never looked back... worlds apart...

That doesn't sound right. Where did your client purchase just the turbos Mark? RUF does not sell the turbochargers separately, only as part of their 520/550/590 packages which include other items like intake manifold, intake pipes, ECU, and exhaust. You can't just call them to order the turbos. They will only sell replacement turbos or replacement parts to customers who already have their turbo packages. Your car must be on file with them. My car was originally built by RUF as a 550 Rturbo and it included RUF specific K24/26 hybrid turbos with RUF wastegates which have different springs (the waste ages are definitely not stock on the 550/590 K24 cars). There is also a large volume RUF intake manifold, 2.75" turbo intake pipes, and a free flowing exhaust. RUF also includes their own write protected ECU. All together this was a fantastic set up which was at 1.3 bar of boost by 3500 rpm. I had no complaints.

Hi tooknthem off his car. Actually two guys did and both were on 6peed members. They were stock k16s even mike at Blouch said it. Only the turbine wheel was clipped.
Furthermore , and I'm not starting, one Ecu had a soldered chip in place of EEPROM chip. Todd Knighton had to remove it and read the Ecu. I remember reading his email and it went like ". They only changed max speed and Max rpm .... It's a stock file file. ". Well that's what was in the ecu.
I think there was a rug dealer in Texas back then. One of the cars came from Texas. Again I'm not starting I have nothing to gain. I know what I saw and I know whar I was told. I probably have the pics Barried in my iPhone back up.
The point is, the client dos injectors and we redid the turbos, added the Ics , and the car ran a lot better according to the client. If I spend enough time I'll remember his name. He can chime in he's a member.

Sounds like he had the entry level RUF 460 kit which is k16 based. It is/was RUF's cheapest offering. It is nothing more than an entry level pair of k16, air filter, and ecu. It's listed at 4800 Euro. If he paid $6800 than this is what he had. The 460 kit your client had however has absolutely nothing in common with the K24/26 based 550 Rturbo kit that the OP was asking about. It is easy to see why your client saw a noticeable improvement with your newer K16 billet set up which is probably about 500whp.

The 550 kit has the parts as listed in my previous post and costs 25,200 Euro, so roughly $30k. Apples and oranges. Stupid prices especially back 10/12 years ago but there just we're not many options back then.
