This is how we make it :)
Wow, 3" catless on a track car! It will sound great, but most track drivers are concerned with passing strict db limits and catless 3" is at the extreme high end of db's. Yes, the 997TT's are slightly quieter than 996TT's with an identical system, due to the VTG turbos I believe, therefore any drone issues of a system on a 996TT should be less on the 997TT.
My experience is that 3" catless is really loud - It's a whole different world than the same system catted. 3" catted is not really too loud, if you don't want it to be (i.e. the operator can control it), whereas 3" catless, it's hard to mask it.
OK, I think I will bow out of Marks thread now...

yeah - I was going to suggest a new thread. Markski is a good guy (judging by his input here in the board) - and he is a paying sponsor. It's kind of a bummer when you pay money and have a thread go this far astray. I'd hate to have him stop or reduce his participation. And his exhaust look really well made
Had he not made a sly comment about owners of other exhausts trying to justify their purchases it would never have gone astray now would it? (shrug) I appreciate his inputs but if something stinks ignoring it isn't going to make it smell better...

Just because he hasn't tried it doesn't mean it can't be done as clearly it's proven otherwise. Just because someone has been at something for a long time does not necessarily make one an undisputed know it all. I've been flying jets for 20+ years and still frequently step out of the cockpit having learned something new. It's rather humbling and the only thing I know with 100% certainty is that I don't know it all and I'm constantly learning. In aviation, the guys who proclaim they have seen it or done it all are the ones that often times become a statistic. When it comes to making products, the willingness to learn and employ new ideas and concepts is what ultimately advances product evolution to the next level. It's that simple.
This is a forum that people learn from, perhaps even some verdors and fabricators that have not been exposed to some of the less well "known" but proven technologies out there. In the end, everyone benefits. As far as thead jacking, there is a vendor only forum available on this site for vendors to advertise their products. I think when you post in the general forums as a vendor (which is common practice) you have to be prepared to entertain member's comments. Again, I don't think anyone said anything derogatory in any form or fashion, just shared their experiences, good and bad. This is a small community and word gets out quickly. If a product is great it generally sells itself though word of mouth without the need for much promoting on the part of the manufacturer.

Agree completely, guys. And I read Markski's comment.
But put yourself in Markski's shoes. Taken from his perspective, the thread about how he makes his exhausts ended at post #4. We are now at close to 10x that number and have even had competitors chiming in. At some point, he is going to say F... .t. And I think that would be a greater loss for the forum than continuing the discussion of drone or no-drone within this thread.
That is all I was trying to say.

i need an exhaust that flows well AND is as quiet as the stock exhaust. i live in a neighborhood with a draconian HOA. i used to have a europipe quiet, and the cold starts caused me to get quite a few complaints. i loved that exhaust. =(
any ideas would be great.
any ideas would be great.
All I'm going to say : I recall one member here who bought X straight pipes no mufflers from someone and swore that his car had no drone. I had to drink an extra beer to suck that one in. I've been around these cars since 1997 and seen it and heard it all.
6speed has gone to sh%#t that's why no one is on here anymore.

Back in the days members and vendors respected one another. We had debates but never slammed like now a days. Some even will go and PM members on the thread and talk behind your back and make up lies just because they don't like you personally.
I just find it funny how some 996 owner will find a guy with welding skills to do a exhaust for him for cost, next thing you know we have high resolution pics online and a major promotional campaigne by the owner how bad *** the exhaust is( so common ). I remember back in the days no one could promote any items that are not board sponsors. Why? Because we pay a lot of money to be vendors. But those times are long gone especially when members just sit and undermine your hard work and promote some shop/ tuner/ fabricator that didn't see a P car in their garage untill 2014. 🙄🙄🙄
But if anyone out there wants to take it to a real debate and find out for themselves about markski tuning products/tuning ability we can do at the track. It's that simple. Take the queens out of the garage and do it then will talk because as of now all of you still run 10s at best and have nothing to show for other then ganging up on those who actually do it and prove it. Run a 9 sec you will have my respect. Run a 4 sec 60 to 130 you will have my attention.
I usually don't do this but it's time to call some of your guys out and call your bluff. What have you ?
Good luck.

I make each one per request so I'm able to play with all the variables including reducing drone. With that said, whenever you read that a straight thru exhaust doesn't drone, it usually means the client is justifying his money's spent. I've been at this for years and I know just about every exhaust on the market.
Drone is also very subjective. I spent 2 years developing the right muffler components so can make adjustments be it for a client in Kuwait with 1100 whp or a someone with just a 500 hp flash set up. I know how to make them so each client gets the most out of it. Markski

Why are you upset about competition entering the market? Certainly some of them aren't going to make good products but that's what this forum is for, discussing our experiences - as it seems you discovered when you discounted them. Some of the new products entering the market are good, innovative, and helpful to the general owner population - are you saying that isn't welcome in your world? Is there nothing left for you to learn? Your car is fast and you have proven tuning skills, why do you feel the need to go after others and act the victim?
