Evo GT700 question.

Does the GT700 include rebuilding the engine in the price or is it extra?

Also what 1/4 would it run? And if installing that kit with rebuilding the engine option, does it matter what milage does the engine has or not, since your are rebuilding it?

Thanks, Noob

I believe the engine is NOT included- thats an extra $15k.
1/4 runs... its all relative. Ive seen guys post 11.3s

No, the cost of the engine build is not included. As far as the mileage. No it make no difference. I have pulled 2K mile motors apart and 30K mile motors apart. It all gets replaced anyway.

With the proper conditions and launch technique it should run high 10's.

Is the rebuild required? recommended? What is the max level of power upgrade without the rebuild being necessary? Keep in mind I do thrash my car.

We build the GT700 with stock internals. We require internal engine modifications on our GT750 and above systems. The weak link in the 996TT engine has been the connecting rods and head studs / gaskets but only on very HP applications. When we build GT750/800 engines, we address and install the following components:

Carrillo connecting rods
High strength head studs
High pressure head gaskets
High flow oil pump

We also offer:

Forged high strength pistons
Titanium valves
Exhaust camshafts
Ported heads

Click Here for more GT700 and engine building information

PM or call me if you have any questions Todd

But since the GT640 makes 740 FWHP on the race gas program (568 AWHP on a AWD dyno)...wouldn't that mean it would need strenghtened internals as well? Thanks.

Yes, however we do not offer that GTR computer upgrade. That was a file we did for the 2004 shootout and it was something to run for short races and not for prolonged track use.

Are there any tests that can be performed on a stock motor to determine whether it's healthy enough to handle 700hp? And how long would the motor go before it needed a rebuild?

Thanks.

Yes, a cylinder leak down test can be performed that will let you know how healthy the engine is. This is not a "tell all" about the condition but a good indicator. About 6 months ago we installed our GT700 on a 2001 996TT with 47K miles. The leak down was marginal with 2 of the 6 cyls being above spec. The customer decided to go ahead with the engine upgrade and wait on the internal motor upgrade. The car now has 54K miles on it and is still running strong.

Once the engine has the upgraded internals, it will not need rebuilding for a LONG while. For a heavy race application, the pistons are recommended to be replaced for a long term durability.

OK noob question.

What do you mean by rebuilding?

And for the GT700 can for example i upgrade the pistons only on a stock motor? Or some other parts need to be upgraded too?
