You could also just swap on 997.1TT steel discs with any 996 GT2/3 pads...used PCCB pads work great
Correct I'm not using just any pads, I'm pointing out the ones that are specifically listed for PCCB.

I see tirerack.com has a number of PCCB pad options as well.

http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/resul...oModClar=Coupe

One of them is only $66 a pair but most others are in the $136 ~ $150 range which seems the more common going rate for a front pair of PCCB pads.

As for the 997.1 steel rotors, why 997? Are my PCCB rotors larger in diameter than the regular 996 steel rotors? If I do go that route it seems I need to find pads that will work though. The 996 steel and 996 PCCB brakes have different calipers. Are my PCCB calipers the same as regular 997 calipers?

FWIW, I'm largely sure those Tirerack options are incorrectly described, they fit PCCB pad shape but not PCCB-safe compound. Make a few emails and get it on record they are safe for your discs....
997.1TT steelies shares the same disc offset as 996TT and come in 350/350mm size, PCCB on 996TT and GT2/3 is 350/350, 996TT steel is 330/330
997TT front caliper shares pad shape with 996 PCCB front caliper, rears are completely different

That's entirely possible. I'll probably contact the manufacture if possible as I'm not confident I'd get a proper answer from tirerack.

Oh OK very interesting. So just standard 997.1 TT front steel rotors and pads and I'm good to go.

What are my options for the rears to get steel in there?

Goodplan! Don't want to take chances with the PCCB discs...
For steel conversion, can run 997TT discs front and rear...any 350mm rear disc from the 996/997 'family' is good. For pads,(front and rear) anything that fits a 996GT2 or GT3 is what you want.

Thank you, I'll start hunting down some disks and pads. Sounds like the way to go for now. I'll keep my PCCB rotors on the back burner for a while

I appreciate that. I'm just going through pelicanparts.com but instead of choosing 2004 911 turbo I'm selecting the GT2 and browsing rotor and pad options.

select 2007 7TT for steel discs, and select 2004 6GT3 with steel brakes for pads...nice and easy

if you want to keep the brake dust sown a bit you can run the pccb pads you choose on the 997tt steel rotors. many have done it

Ah ha! Information I've been looking for! So, are the 997.2 rotors different? I need to doublecheck the numbers on my spreadsheet to make sure I don't have any 997.2 parts listed on it!

997.2TT steel is still the same dimensions, but need to make sure you specify 5lug vs centrelock... simpler to just ask for 997.1TT discs.

Okay, thanks! What was freaking me out was seeing different part numbers between 997.1 and 997.2 for lugged wheels. I'll try to sort it tonight so the spreadsheet is clear - I don't want anyone potentially buying the wrong rotors based on something I've made public

absolutely!
FWIW, there is no '997.1TT' part number anymore, has been superseded to the latest 997.2TT 'lugged' number AFAIK...

OK I see that's what you had higher up too. I was so tired last night I didn't do anything and came back and re-read today. Thank you.

Well if I purchase PCCB pads I'll just keep using the PCCB rotors on the car too. The pads just seem to be so ridiculously expensive. I probably wouldn't mind to much if I had just a couple toy cars but the 911 is one of 6 cars I play with and maintain so sometimes I have to be a bit more practical.

That's probably why BLKMGK is finding two part numbers. The original one and the new superseded part #.

the main reason for the pccb on steel is the brake dust. its insane how much dust is genereated with all the pads out there. i have tried 3 different kind all say "low dust" and i cant even make it 1 hr to a car show without dust everywere. i use the ceramic pads and its a lot cleaner. i just hate the dust on super clean wheels
