Yeah I get that but at $1100 for a set of front and rear pads it can get expensive quickly. Unless there are drastically significantly cheaper versions out there I'm not aware of.

Maple Valley 996T is infamous around these parts
Why not just get the correct PCCB pads....and be good for another 100K (assuming rotors are good) it seems that for the durability they are cost effective and boy are they easy on the wheel dust! I am pretty sure that my rotors are original@ 98K miles and pads remain at about 35% now. My rotors look as if they are spanking new. Aside from keeping them clean, I invested in a second lug stud (install both before removing a wheel) to assure that I do not take a chance of nicking one with a wheel removal.

Are you at 98k miles and still on the original brake pads with 35% remaining? If I'm reading that then wow that's pretty amazing. I hadn't considered how long the ceramic PCCB pads last. If that's the case I'd be more than happy to fork out the cash and get another set of pads.

My car has 107k miles on it now. Does it sound plausible that those are the original PCCB pads on the car? If so that's just mind blowing.

Pretty sure they are original, they were @ about 40% when I bought the car 4 years ago with 72k on the clock. I have never done a track day (likely neither the PO also), if I want to experience 3 G's on all 3 axis I have a shifter kart
My rotors literally look like new.

That's real impressive. In that case I can see why they cost as much as they do. For some reason I was thinking I'd be replacing them about every 20k miles or something like normal brakes on performance cars that see some good spirited driving.

if youdont track them they can last a very long time. i think they are weighed for determining wear but i dont know the specs. the first gen were known to have cracks form if tracked hard.

there are a few companies out there that can make replacement rings in steel if you do wear them out and a couple that have better prices than factory for pccb rotors but still very pricey

My rotors still look brand new at 107k. It's the pads I need to replace up front. It looks like Maple Valley 996T is saying he has 98K miles on his PCCB pads right now.

Well my new pads finally arrived and wtf they don't have the same spring type connections on the outside. Guess those are "optional" pieces you have to buy and stick on.

Those are vibration dampeners I believe you can reuse them.

Yes you sure can. I did some searching and found a brake pad DIY (as silly as that sounds) but it was useful and I got it done. Didn't realize you don't even have to remove the caliper to swap brakes. Very cool. I had it all pulled apart because I replaced the outer CV boots but good to know for the future.
