Inserts

Yes, I did consider inserts from various companies. The reason for not going that route was mostly to do with NVH levels. With the ss engine mounts, I was afraid with both engine and ss trans mount, the NVH would be too much for me. So, I think I have a good compromise. See solid engine mounts with a stock, modded trans mount, similar to the window weld MOD. NVH levels are a tiny bit more from the end mounts, and I noticed no increase with the trans mount.BTW xmaciek, I just bought a second hand 997 Tubi muffler( internal X pipe design) I am going to try to adapt to my car, how do you rate the sound...volume and quality??

Hey louisifis, the sound is deep. I can't say if the deep sound is because of headers or the actual Tubi mufflers. I recently bought the car with the full exhaust on it so don't have much to compare to. I personally love the sound. After hearing multiple 996tt with various exhausts, I was worried that the turbos mess with the exhaust tone too much. The tubi exhaust puts off a right amount of turbo spool noise (nice little whistle) under regular driving, and gets very deep and loud at higher RPMs.

I'm not trying to start an exhaust war/debate in your thread, but to ME, the full Tubi exhaust is the best one I heard so far.

I drove the car 1300 miles when I bought it from FL to IL and the exhaust didn't bother me a bit.

find it amusing that drivers are so concerned with cabin noise, yet will install an after market exhaust that in most cases louder than stock equipment. my car is not a daily driver so when I do drive it the radio is generally off to enjoy the motor and other mechanical sounds that a fine sports car can provide. then again my last 911 was a tin car that required ear plugs to drive...

Juanbenae, there is right noise and wrong noise.
A great exhaust=the right noise
Excessive drone/mechanical chatter/grinding/clunking=wrong noise.
Merely my humble opinion.
Xmaciek, thanks for the feedback. Looking forward to playing with the Tubi and seeing what sound I can get out of it.

when I went to the SS trans & motor mounts I had nothing in the way of wrong noise IMHO... I think concerns are over stated in most cases when owners consider the upgrade. I would think the window weld might transfer more noise than say the tarret street tranny mounts. imagine a very large skateboard wheel, very cushy. if the window weld product im thinking of is what's used that would create a more solid opportunity to transmit noise, vibration, and wrong noise in my estimation.

i agree. i think there are few for whom the window weld mod will be advantageous enough to justify the added nvh. i suspect ( and have driven ) cars with the TS inserts and they are fine. perhaps the window weld mod adds a similar addition of nvh.

but for most, semi solids in conjunction w a new 997 t-mount is more than sufficient. though i can see adding the TS t-mount inserts myself. my car is one toke over the line, as it is anyway. so some poly inserts aren't gonna be an issue.
