5 Things you hate about your TT

Minor, but what grinds my gears...
-how cheap the e-brake sounds when pulling it
-the stock seats
-stock engine bay isn't very flattering
-cup holder blows
-arm rests on doors (storage cover) is amazingly uncomfortable on the elbows.

That is a fantastic question and one I have had to ponder since selling the car. Everyone buys cars for their own reasons and has different expectations based upon that. I bought mine when I got out of racing and was tracking cars that I could drive to the track. My 996 TT was built for that and was what I would call a stage 2 build so nothing crazy but good enough to be much better than stock. My 997TT is built similar but has the stock suspension.
I honestly find the 997TT a nicer car to take to dinner and generally to be in. But it feels far more exotic and gets a lot more looks and many of them judging me. My 996TT was really an image of me and was a much rawer car. I worked on it as often as I could. My 997TT is much much more refined and is less special to drive. I think the world makes 996 owners question their cars because of their looks, water cooled b/s, etc. but in the end it is an amazing car. And the prices are just stupidly low.

The items that come up for me:
First Gen PCCB not holding up to advertisement... dishonest marketing...
Coolant fittings vs what they use on their Motorsports program
Cheap LSD that really don't last.

As I said, it depends what you are looking for. I do miss my 6T a lot but the 7T is great as well. Just different. Fortunately, I have my Viper for the track/special drives and that car is in another league.

1) rear spoiler going bad (replaced under warranty thankfully)
2) crappy wood interior pieces warping
3) headlight clear coat peeling off/looks hazy
4) oil sending unit/pullies /O2 sensors going bad
5) rearview mirror going bad (how does that happen, lol?!)
I still love her though!

When I spec my car, I asked my friend who wrench on these cars about ordering some carbon interior pieces....no advised NOT to as they will not hold up. Unless its a garage queen.
