I need to find a good spot here, I'm told the lambo guys hit near 200 on our toll roads but I'm not willing. New setup should push the SRM coolers well, 658 on pump and 795 on E85 so far Backpressure is up though so I expect it's out of the efficiency range and is heating up! Ignition may be a little unhappy too but I'm suspecting the backpressure. I'll do some testing when I've got it back, will be fun

Anyways. If the weather is hor, we all will suffer from it.
At 120F your car will not pull as hard and there is a little timing pulled im my log last year when i had those intercoolers.

You can't judge the performance of an intercooler by a single pull but rather by continuous full throttle pulls over a much longer timeframe to allow full heat soak of the core. The 7.2s are about the best there is for the 600whp level if fast thermal recovery is your goal. End tank leaks are not an issue if you run 1.2-1.3 bar and make sure the tabs are fully crimped prior to install. I personally find them excellent for moderate boost applications if you respect their limitations.
Exactly.

Yesterday was a hot day by norwegian standards as there was 28c/82F here
warmed up on the smal roads before hitting the high way and emptying third
Started at 3046rpm and 46C /115F!!! and ended up at 7184 56c/133F

let go of the throttle and 20 seconds later i was down to 48C/118F

The start temp was really high and im not sure what to make out of it.
What im after is too know if these are normal temps, just so there isnt anything wrong with my setup.

These are really weird numbers. You use a different intake system? maybe u sucking in hot air from the engine bay, not from the outside.

When you start to run a turbocharger at too high of boost pressure you start operating it out of its efficiency range which results in a lot of hot air with no increase in performance. Stock k16s upper limit is 1.0bar for example. Hybrids will vary depending on type of compressor, porting, etc.. This may be your issue.....

A pull in 4th would have your IATs even higher...

Hi Ronny,

Thanks for the logs. If I'm reading the last one correctly, it took ~8 seconds to get through 3rd gear starting at 3000 rpm and you're not seeing 1 bar of boost until 3800 rpm. I would expect 4-5 secs through 3rd gear and 1 bar by 3600rpm the latest (much earlier in 4th gear)

I still suspect a leak, your IATs shouldn't have moved much in that pull. What turbos are you running?

Yeah, that's not right Earl. Looks like a boost leak causing the turbos to over spin trying to meet requested boost and in the process pumping a ton of hot air. I can't open his log but looking at mine, in 4th I'm at 1.2 bar by 3300rpm on a k16 based turbo running 91 octane.

Thanks guys, do suspect something is wrong, or not optimal at least.
My billets have a 47.5mm/66mm/70.7mm extended tip compressor.
Stock k16 turbine, freshly overhailed with new mainshaft.

My intake is stock except for Gt2 wing with its forced induction.
The seal between the rear lid and the air filter box is tight, so no hot air should be drawn from the engine compartment.
But i need to check this.

I did replace my venturi tube as this was the only leaking part when i tested, but i have not performed a new leak test after replacement.

Ok, today it was 28C/82F and i fired up the car, connected to the obd and checked the ACT, and it was already at 38C/100F
This was when the car was standing still just idling.

Ronny, didn't you seal up the car well? your running about 1.25 bar which is about normal for most k16 hybrid turbos. it also depends how hot engine is... you can do pulls then cool off for 5 minutes but it still will show higher then on a less stressed car within those few minutes. Ive seen this on both gt2Rs and on AM bar n plates... do a 3rd gear pull thew temps should not go up more then 15 deg on average...

Ok guys, this is kinda embarrassing, but here goes...

When i stored the intercoolers i put a paper cloth in the inlets, so no dust or anything would fall into the cores....
You probably see where this is going....

Today I removed the hose and what do you know... one of the tanks still had the cloth in it.....

So now the temps seems to be acting as normal again.

Thanks for the input everyone!
