Dashboard squeak and rattle

My 2002 tiptronic TT has developed a loud squeak and rattle which appears to be coming from the bottom of the windshield where it meets the dashboard. When the car goes over rough surface the rattle appears but not with smooth road.

I have removed the glove box, instrument cluster, the factory infotainment cluster, the 3 plastic panels covering the battery, and the noise still persists. I have ordered the foam cord and will try stuffing it into the windshield trim. All wires and hoses in the battery compartment seems to be tightly secured.

After removing most of the movable parts in the cabin, i am starting to guess it maybe due to bad bushings of the suspensions, or it maybe the condenser of the air conditioning system getting loose? Can anything in the HVAC get loose and make such noise?

Anyone has similar experience and found a cure at the end? I love driving the car but these noise is taking away a large part of the fun.

TIA!

Had a similar issue recently and found a post on Rennlist that suggested using a flat blade to lift the weather seal on the outside of the windshield and then squirt bicycle chain wax under the seal.

I used White Lightning Clean Ride. It worked for me.

I have tried stuffing a 6mm rubber cord beneath the windshield trim outside, around the glass except the bottom but it disnt work. About the chain wax, should it go to the top or bottom of the glass?

I removed the a/c duct that is right on top of the driver footwell, it eliminated some of the noise feom the centre console but the loud metallical rattle still persists from underneath the driver side dashboard. Really cant see anything inside the cabin that would make such noise. It aounds like a box of coins vibrating.

This is driving me insane!
