Looking for guidance - window issue
I'm having a similar issue with my coupe, when the passenger door is opened the window goes down like it should but but doesn't stay in that position so it can be shut. I have to pull the door handle up to get get the window to drop as I shut the door.
You know why they fail? Because the days Germans used the Bosch stuff in their cars are over. When I had my door latch mechanism replaced by Porsche I got the old one back. It says made in France on it. :-)
Lol - thanks for all the feedback, which has left me clear as mud since it seems it could be any of the 3. I think I'll try the microswitch first since it is easiest and cheapest. Thanks - I'll report back when I'm done.
So what did it end up being? Where did you get the parts?
I think I've got a similar issue on my car.. Car beeps twice upon unlock (not upon lock, as it would do if something was left open) and does not flash indicators; then it will not flash the indicators when locked either if the issue is present. Passenger side window does not go up or down when door is opened when it does the beep on unlock. Red light on the lock button stays illuminated.
If it doesn't beep and flashes the indicators as normal, the passenger window works as intended. It comes and goes, but has been 75-80% occurring lately. Hoping it is a microswitch issue rather than locking mechanism. I think it is going to be locking mechanism given the symptoms. Oddly enough the door still locks and unlocks as intended.

The old micro-switches had a rubber boot over the plunger that would rub down until complete failure. The more of the rubber that gets worn off, the more consistent the failure. The new micro-switches have a better design where the contact point does not have the rubber cover.

Now before the tech replaced that item he read the codes out of the security module and then with the door card off did some tests/checks to eliminate the less expensive switches. But the problem proved to be with the door lock assembly.
for me it was the microswitch. door panel removal is fairly straight forward. the microswitch is a little piece and touchy to install but a 3 out of 10. this is definatly a diy if you have some patience and are willing to search the forums and youtube for instructions on removal and reinstall. plastic moulding tools from harbor freight are a cheap way to keep from marring up the leather. i also recommend you order new plastic pieces for the edges of the door card since they tend to break on removal
i replaced both of them in the end. first was at the handle then later the other
Do you have part numbers for both? My drivers side has the same problem you're having I think. When you pull the inner or outer door handles, the window will drop. But it quickly goes back up.
I hold the outer door handle up and time it to close without slamming the glass.
Sometimes after a long drive it will work. But mostly not.

theres a "right" and a "left" door latch mechanism ( not sure why? ). pelican has them. its also the same as 986 boxter part as the last time i needed one there was a dead boxter in the yard so we swapped it ha
a new one will definitely cure that issue.
