Newbie checking in from London.
Hello from London everyone-I've owned my 2001 996 for just over a month now and I'm loving it.
It's a German import with 36k miles and the last owner fitted H&R coilovers/millteck exhaust with 100 cell cats and a 470 bhp chip.
So far the only addition I've made is 6 Mac Audio speakers and an Audiotec Fischer amp to make the very average stereo very good.
I've ordered the EvoMS short shift to try and sharpen up the gearchange which felt a little uncertain/flexy on full bore changes-especially 1st to 2nd.
No doubt I'll be moving on to more advanced mods in the future but for the moment the car has more than enough power-especially as I spend most of my time stuck in traffic in London.
Merry Christmas to you all.

Garey-the amp is a Helix B4 precision made by Audiotec Fischer which apparently is an easy plug in to the Porsche system. The sound is excellent-I had a couple of 6x9 Mac audio speakers installed between the rear bulkhead and rear seats.
I replaced the door speakers with 6.5 inch Mac audio midrange and 4 inch Mac's + tweeters in the dash.
HOWEVER I have had problems-there is interference on the hands free phone (it's unusable now) and there is engine whine through the speakers.
The shop that fitted the stereo have sourced the wiring diagrams for the 996TT and the car is going in next week to have the problems remedied-until then I'd hold fire on this particular set-up.
If anyone has had similar problems I'd love to hear the solution.
We managed to remove the engine whine by moving a wire but then the windows and open door would cause interference instead.
Great sound though for a reasonable price.

Thanks Egbert for the info on the Amp! Remember to always look right at the "round-a-bout"! Every time I visit the UK and drive I always put a little note up that says "LOOK RIGHT"!
