I installed with the coolers and i messed up some trimming of the new left side intake piece. There is a big hole where there shouldnt be.
Ive ordered another one but it takes weeks to arrive downunder.
Ill change it to the OEM intake tonight or tomorrow and log again if thats not it ive probably got a leak on the lower intake manifold hoses which im not sure I could get to without pulling the engine.
and a follow up:
I tuned this car with bigger K24 biilets, 4.5" ICs made by another company... and the intake temps roughly are half of what the wagner 5.7" show from 3K to 6K... just to be fair and not sound like Im hating here... I know its all relative and there are way too many variabkles to be able to compare apples to apples...
here is a pic...
Mark - how are you logging knock values with the durametric?
1.5bar boost at 4500rpm is getting into it for sure. Looks good.
Im not here to compare them to what I make, but I've done hundreds of pulls and logs over the years. I just finished up a A2873 turbo kit, the bigger A28 set up, with our 4.5" race coolers... here is a 3rd gear pull I did about 6 weeks ago, I actually was heat soaking the car doing back to back 3rd gear pulls... you can tell starting intake temps are mid 40s C... yes it was hot outside too.. I didn't log outside temp, I was more after watching fuel and boost... well this car is running 1.65 bar, 100 octane, pump timing, durametric boost maxed out... and the intake temps went up only 3 deg in one 3rd gear pull. Granted, I let off at 6K.. but its on considerably bigger turbo, and considerably hotter temp... and alot more boost... and I did a back to back in the log... same result...
I just took a pic... for quick reference, but IM including the full log with 2 back to back pulls...
Im not trying to start online drama... but a 10 deg C increase at 1.3 bar on k16 billets is a lot of intake temp in one pull for the 5.7 wagners... they should be half of what they did...
just sharing my observations, and Ive been at this IC stuff since 2004 on my own 996TT... but Ill also warn that intake temps are half of the story... coolers must flow too...

I agree with everything you're saying except the part about sizes and boost pressure.
I feel that intercoolers are even more important to K16 car running 1.3bar compared to a much larger framed turbo at the same manifold pressure.
That K16 is going to produce a lot more heat to try to satisfy the demand of 1.3 bar, making intercoolers work much harder.
and it turns out to be my carbon dual intake that was causing all the problems since I swapped back to the stock box no more engine bay heat being sucked into the intake thus a huge reduction in IAT's and no longer pulling timing.
I'll get the dual intake sealing and back in play once the new carbon piece arrives from Germany.
2nd Log was taken after a 2hr hinterland drive hence the added few degrees at 7000 rpm
Re-Map should be ready tonight, looking forward to some tire smoking results
Looking at my numbers again today I swear my IAT must be off. I forgot to check this morning at cold start but will try this morning. I saw temps in traffic as high as 137 and that just doesn't seem right. 14-20+ degrees gain in the Y doesn't seem possible to me.
Glad you found your issue! Maybe you can find a way to get more cool air into the stock box or solve the routing issues with the other? Considered Cobb and going MAFless?
Glad it sounds like you found the source of the heat! I may have found mine too, I think my IAT is scaled way off! Like between 14-20 degrees depending on temp. I hope it's as simple as that and I'll be able to report some good data soon.
Go with fender inlets or filters, you'll pick up power and spool for sure!
LOG's and IAT's with Joe Toth Intake Scoops & Wagner 3.5" IC's PLUS Wagner 5.7" IC's

I'll do fender intakes if I cant get this dual inrake carbon air box I bought to seal up sufficentially and hope ur IAT issue is as simple as scaling bro.
I have one of the SRM Y-pipes that Sean builds, larger throttlebody too.
Honestly even if you get that box sealed up it won't be nearly as good as fenderwell intakes. From that box to the turbo is a couple of FEET of convoluted tubing

Ive got Markski's soft intake pipes, ipd and 74mn throttle body and every other bolt on u can imagine.
I know what ur mean about the fender well intakes though but ive got this carbon box so if I can make it work i will. If not ill get a Y Pipe and the fender well pipes.
Ive just tightened the wastegates half a turn on Todds advise, boost is much stronger really hitting hard.
I went to log but its just too wet for 200kph datalogging have to wait for the rain to pass.
Best way to tell is to measure pressure drop near the turbo inlet. Everyone will have some, restrictive setups like the stock system will have lots more. I really would like to put a sensor in to check this actually but not till after a few other things are done. Look forward to your results!
