No, my car was running what was originally called a Stage 5. Not many were made as they shifted to the GT packages.
It had Garrett T04 turbo's, big mothers!

And yes you will pick up power running straight pipes versus an exhaust.

Gilhart Racing is infamous around these parts
Buddy,

I'm heading out to AZ. mid-January to run an RX-8 at PIR, it looks as if I'll just miss seeing your car. Good luck with the upgrades, your car should be a rocket!

then he did his internals and has the gt800 with IM sure some goodies that he got from Todd and ran 10.6 @ 131 mph i believe... maybe 134?? i forgot.
... and Im sure that was at 28 psi at least.
It very hard to get that car down the track running 1.3 bars( 18 psi) on a off the shelf ( bolt ons) tuning package and run constant 10.9s.. VERY HARD.
just ask sharky.
Alex please chime in on this one....
Getting into the 10s isn't easy sadly The gearing in the 6speed doesn't help either...

But the 10.9 is old news I ran 10.6 in the summer at 135mph. The car ran 7-8 times that day in 100 degree heat and every run was in the 10s. From 10.8-10.6 everytime

But that was nowhere near just a GT700 package correct

Thanks Alex for clarifying all the speculations... should, could, etc.... all I know is that its very hard to get a tt down the track in less then 11 seconds...

correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't there a slight advantage with the tiptronic TT's at the 1/4 as well?

seems like it would take a tremendous amount of time and money to break into the tens. i would assume there is probably only two or three cars on this entire board that could do that.

Ahh yea that's what i was thinking.. Oh well, i still believe that a GT700-750 could get upper 10's also, but that would be with perfect everything!

Your right again, i mean this car could prob lose to a mid, low 10 sec car at the strip but on the highway or in a different type of run the turbo could win.. It just still shocks me till today that the 996tt with its AWD, monsterous power and grip and not even "heavy weight" really cant do better!

I guess tiptronic could have an advantage on stock or hybrid K16 turbos or on the lower power packages. Alex correct me if im wrong, but you said it was harder for your GT800+ package despite being tip because you could really get the turbo to spool because of the torque converter? The lag off the line would be only disadvantage to the tips in the big power packges or larger turbos..

And yea there only like 2-3 documented 10 sec 996tt's on this forum, Sharky is the fastest too
