Wheel hop?

Hi

I get this if I drop the clutch in 1st, and it is maybe expected. But I also get this in 2nd if I go WOT when boost hits.

I dont want to change the suspension to be softer in any way. Or turn the car into a straight line car.

So is there any low hanging fruits here?

Transmission mounts?
Engine mounts?
New tires?

The car is a 2007 turbo with oem pasm suspension.

Have you seen our recent thread on this very topic?

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...sc-module.html

We carry the TPC module now after having tested it on our shop car, here's a link:

http://www.protuningfreaks.com/colle...7-2-tpc-racing

One thing to mention though is you have to consider health of your OEM shocks/springs, tires. Provided they're in proper working condition and tires aren't worn you should have a very noticable improvement in reducing/eliminating wheelhop with your OEM suspension.

Yes and I guess the TPC DSC module is in the future for me, but not right now.

I did read that wheel hop was one of the things transmission mounts claim to cure/help/improve and wanted to know if there is truth to it.

I am planning to change tires (already have a set of new Michelins ready) after the winter (Nokian Hakka's going on the car soon).

The shocks are of course not new anymore, but I am not sure they really are "bad" enough to make any real difference if any.

Springs, I refuse to believe they have become worn out, they are well springs...in steel, don't buy them wearing out (unless they crack and break).

Interesting, if you would give each change a % in its part in solving this what would that look like? Engine mounts are they 5% or 50%?

i dont think i can put a percentage on it as i did all that in one shot. however on my 996tt the engine mounts certainly made a difference, DSC was not available so I had to use suspension arms and shocks to get rid of wheel hop.

i got some arms for the 997 too but have not installed them yet.

The engine mounts on the 997 are different than the 996, or?

Are the RSS engine mounts solid ones? How is that in terms if noise etc? I do DD my car so I am a bit concerned with upgrading mounts and bushings...

I have no wheel hop with stock suspension and mounts... On PSS tires. Maybe new tires is all you need.

I will, kind of think old tires would be easier to spinn though. Maybe I am wrong but isnt wheel hop something that is a combination of good grip and power, thus putting stress on joints and bushings etc that start moving violently?
