[Rant]
3 times yesterday I had idiots in Dodge Chargers (different times, different cars) pull up beside me and lay on the throttle. Vrooom, vroom, shouty shouty shout shout, listen to my loud car... Thing is, we were in bumper to bumper rush hour traffic @ ~15mph!!!!
No trouble with Corvettes, Camaro's or Mustangs, only Chargers!

I get it from the Camaro guys... but yeah, Dodge drivers can be... dodgy.

 

Don't get that. What I get way to often is when driving down the freeway some guy in a car -- usually some nondescript POS -- has to I guess in order to impress upon me how good a driver he is by when pulling out to go around my car cut it so close I feel I have to pull over a bit in my lane to avoid him clipping the corner of my car. Thankfully these bozos don't cut in front of my car in that fashion.

And I'm not playing road boulder with my car either. Sometimes I've not in the fast lane just in one of the middle lanes moving with traffic.

 

I get the Corvette peeps revved on me many times. I just ignore them. Nothing to prove. Except one time. The Corvette had a big and loud exhausts. Had to shut him up. Saw his face was like...😳 As I passed him.

 

Lol, they have a loud exhaust and tall skinny tires, thus think they have a fast car...

Had a Lincoln MKX ride my *** and then darting through traffic to get ahead after I had made him small in the mirror. Next jackass that does that gets rolling antilag flames

 

They are practicing before they get the Hellcat if they survive Darwin.

I get that from all walks of life. I just put my arm up (don't even put the effort into actually waving my hand), so they get their acknowledgment from me and move on.

 

I had a Corvette, no markings at all but it had a black plastic scoop thing on the rocker panel near the rear tire and oval tail lights, pull up and do his thing next to me. I'm not well versed on Corvettes, for all I know his car is much fast than my car. Anyway, I just kept driving along at 45 mph in the middle of traffic like a normal commuter who doesn't want to slam into the back of the stopped traffic ahead.

Anyway, it got me thinking. As far as I know, my car is bone stock. At that speed there is no good gear to really accelerate. Is there a way to spin up the turbos and build a little pressure or some strategy for the testosterone display the next time. The time when there is actually room in front of me...

 

i dunno... a good footstomp @45mph in 2nd works for me.

 

You will have to experiment. At 45mph you want to be in a gear that has the RPMs around the 3K mark -- at least this is what I've found works pretty for me in these situations.

Also, you need to scout out the road behind you and ahead of you. The other driver could be baiting you into doing something pardon the expression stupid as he has spotted a patrol car coming up from behind or perhaps knows there is one ahead either because he has spotted it in the distance or has just come from that direction or his radar detector is letting him know.
