Still an interesting mod since you would also lose a LOT of parasitic drivetrain friction. In the Audi's it is about 9% more than for a Quattro car over a similar FWD. A useable 9% HP gain for $5K is not bad.

The hubs are different, but the rest is generic.

A stock 996 comes with GT2 lower control arms or vice versa (we convert all the 996TT's/GT2's to GT3 lower control arm).. street or race depending on what the owner is doing with the car. GT3 street lower control arms on all 4 corners (street uses a inner rubber bushing mount) GT3 Race utilizes a monoball inner pivot point.

I agree also.. but it is a lot cheaper to convert one than it is to buy/locate one. I would also use a 5 way adjustable front bar unlike what the GT2 ships with (GT3 comes stock with)

The wheel carriers for the GT2 are 476.38 a piece for the front.

When you yank the front axles out, you need a stub axle with the proper number of "teeth" for the ABS sensor in each corner. These stub axles run:90.55 a piece and the part number is: 996341 131 04 (stock GT2 parts and used elsewhere.

By the time you add PCCB, transmission with swappable gears, transmission oil cooler (can be mitigated by starting with an X50)and then get the ABS and PSM stuff all figured out, I think it would have been better to start off with a GT2. Not to mention most US 996 Turbos come with sunroofs as well.

To each his own.

This is one of those topics I'd love for our resident suspension god Cary to chime in on.

Personally, I'd rather start with a GT2 and start adding trick parts...
